This canyon is known as the Singing Canyon because of its acoustic qualities. Wilbur was too busy to sing however.
Two days ago I visited a grassland location in Virginia where I had previously seen Dickcissels. These birds are uncommon breeders in Virginia, so I was delighted to see them singing and putting on a great show. It was a challenge to get a clear, close shot of them because the pairs were moving around the field frequently. But with a lot of patience, I had some nice opportunities in the early evening light.
You would find a lot of material about him on the Internet, there are even copycats or, if you wish, fake ones. This is a portrait of the real man and I am not going to reveal his identity. He told me about his truly remarkable life story, and one thing is for sure: his street performances in London are not just about himself, they are also meant to bring some joy to life.

At Pacific Grove shooting pictures. Saw this one with its mouth wide open, squawking, or something. I couldn't resist putting a couple of musical notes in there.

The Eastern Meadowlark is extremely skittish and very hard to capture. I was walking (extremely slowly, three steps at a time) while photographing here because I knew it would not stay long.

It is the first sighting of one for me (how common can they be you might ask!) and I spotted it on a walk to Yellow Rock, Portland.
