Richmond Beach Park in Shoreline, Washington. Joining a lot of area's in using Goat's for getting rid of BlackBerry vine's and overgrowth.

This is variant B of my Lucky Star Box (Simplified). It is derived from the basic variant by pushing inside the box the empty areas around the star, which vaults the top and makes the side walls look like the facets of a brilliant-cut diamond. It’s just a small modification, but I think it makes the design much more attractive.

The Lucky Star Molecule was designed independently by myself and Haligami, and variants also by many others.

I have been studying the rocks at Hele Bay and have found their sheer detail is overwhelming. Not matter how faithfully I try to reproduce them, it doesn't transfer well into a drawing; so I have decided to abstract and simplify things down with smudgy pastels in my sketchbook.

Flower.

This started out as a picture of a rather interesting flowerhead on a plant at the Royal Botanic Gardens near Toronto, taken in 2017.

I have no idea of what it was, but it was full of patterns and lines. So, good for filter play!

The approach here was to turn in on its side to create a false horizon and then to process it in Topaz Simplify, which is an interesting filter that reduces images to areas of colour delineated with coloured lines. It's a super filter for using as a basis for photographic painting, and is one of my favourites for Sliders Sunday playtime.

My original intention today was to go further and produce a kaleidoscope version for the group entry, but I rather preferred this intermediate stage (I'll publish the mirrored symmetrical version as well - see www.flickr.com/gp/141477116@N03/56v673).

I'll post a link to the in-camera original so you can see how far we came.

Thank you for taking the time to look. I hope you enjoy the image! Happy Sliders Sunday :)

[Handheld in daylight.

Developed in Capture One for colour, especially the magenta/red in the flower and the green stem. Rotated 90 degrees.

Sharpened with Clarity and a slight general hue shift before processing in Topaz Simplify, using one of the Buzz presets as a starting point, and then tweaking to get lots of detail and noticeable but not overbearing lines. Simplify tends to increase the saturation and colour vibrancy in a lot of the presets as here.

Back into Affinity Photo for a bit of Unsharp Mask and Clarity sharpening and a bit of selective colour channel hue shifting to introduce the oranges at the top. That was about it for this version :)]

Processed in LR and Topaz Simplify4.

Sunday...new week, start of a new work week. Hopefully also a week when I will once again start going to bed and getting up at reasonable times before I start resembling a Walking Dead character. I look forward to Sundays for my weekly horoscope from a couple different sources. In addition to my daily and weekly horoscopes that I truly do not believe, but am always amused by, I get my inspirational messages (my daily truths, my messages from the universe, you can say) delivered to my inbox (no wonder there are usually 10s of thousands of messages in my inbox...) So, every once in awhile (read: every other day) a message comes through that I know was written specifically to ME! I'm sure that the zillion other people that get these "personal" messages will just look at it and hit DELETE while I sit there and say "WOW... they nailed it... that's me...")

So there is this... a message that has been hitting me squarely in the face for some time now.... reinforced by friends and co-workers, and even hinted (ha! did I say HINTED? I was being kind!!) by you guys here....

"You can do amazing things with the simplest things. You can have so little and be so happy. You can take small amounts of time and perform life-changing acts.

Is it time to simplify? Is it time to pare your life down to the handful of things that mean the most to you, and let the rest go so that . . . you can give the very best of yourself to the very best things . . . instead of being spread in a too-thin layer all over the place?

Your heart knows when it's time, and you will have the strength to do it. And best of all you will see enormous changes happen in your life when you let the unimportant things go and embrace the things that quietly sustain you and bring you joy.

It may not look like the most glamorous life, but it is one filled with joy, peace and harmony . . . one where laughter is a welcome and frequent companion . . . one where worries are few and where long meaningful conversations are many . . . one that is waiting for you when you are ready to take the steps to get there.

Simplify today, one little thing at time. You can do it. "

Simplify? Yeah... I know it's over due. I can do it? Hmmmm.... not sure. It's hard. I'm trying.

(*sorry...sometimes I write these things as reminders to myself! When they are here, I know where to find them!)

in life, sometimes you need simple answers ...

Lucan Village has a much simplified service to the city centre, with the C3/C4 being the only links. Both now run to Ringsend Road and are solely operated by Ringsend, bringing an end to Phibsboro Depot operation in Lucan for the first time since 2000.

PA253 heads for Ringsend on the C4 which is the Celbridge service as PA253 heads for Maynooth. Both these services ran into problems later on with overcrowding but no doubt the issues wiill settle down in time.

Badaling (simplified Chinese: 八达岭; traditional Chinese: 八達嶺; pinyin: Bādálǐng) is the site of the most visited section of the Great Wall of China, approximately 50 miles (80 km) northwest of urban Beijing city in Yanqing County, which is within the Beijing municipality. The portion of the wall running through the site was built in 1504 during the Ming Dynasty, along with a military outpost reflecting the location's strategic importance. The highest point of Badaling is Beibalou (北八樓), approximately 1,015 metres (3,330 ft) above sea level.

This is a photograph modified with Topaz Simplify, not a painting.

The first image from a mini-series taken in the quiet back roads of Northamptonshire & Rutland. The great simplifiers (Snow & Mist) were in play, so I knew there would be images that are not normally obvious. As the back roads were pretty much single lane, where the farmers had ploughed a channel through, I ended up not being able to hang about anywhere too long. All the shots subsequently hand-held.
