I do understand this glass to be less than half empty. I'm also slightly upset by this, because I like my green tea, but am aware I have plenty more. Does this make me a pessimist or realist?
or maybe an optimist, as it's green tea and not vinegar. ;)
I was playing with how far I can push or pull the images shot with the Nex. This made a fair subject. This shot was pushed +4 EV's.

We decided to make a pea gravel border against most of the southern edge of the house. It looks pretty and simplifies mowing. A sturdy lawn edge with pegs separates the decorative strip from the lawn area we are currently establishing. Right now it is manure mulch on top of transplanted kikuyu runners. On enlarged view, some of the kikuyu can be seen starting to come through the mulch. The sandy areas remaining will be planted with fruit trees.

What I would do differently: I would try to take the photo at a different angle, since I think the doorway near the right-hand side of the frame distracts, along with the doors on the left side of the frame. I would also try to get the positioning of the sunflowers and vase closer to the original pre-simplification photo.

I passed this on my walk today. It had just rained. I ran home for my camera.
It's a hand-embroidered heart. Reads "Simplify." I wonder where it came from. I wonder why it was on the side of the road. I wonder why it is ripped.
Wherever it came from... I liked the message.

Simplified music notation is an alternative form of music notation designed to make sight-reading easier. It was proposed by Peter Hayes George (1927-2012). It is based on classical staff notation, but sharps and flats are incorporated into the shape of the noteheads. Notes such as double sharps and double flats are written at the pitch at which they are actually played, but preceded by symbols called "history signs" to show that they have been transposed. The key signature and all other information in the original score is retained, but the player does not need to remember the key signature and accidentals while playing.
The notation was designed to help players who struggle with sight-reading, including those who suffer from working memory impairments, dyslexia and other learning difficulties.

Mount Archer is now recovering. There's not much green yet, but there are less trees, leaves and branches. Also so much burnt texture. There's something about it that is pared back and simplified, really emphasising the horizontal lines of the remaining trees and thehorizon lines. I couldn't capture any of this photographically, so I've tried to amplify what I could capture with manipulation.
