Tone your wants and tastes low down enough, and make much of negatives, and of mere daylight and the skies.

-- Walt Whitman

Located on the dividing line between Springfield's Vinegar Hill and Old Aristocracy Hill neighborhoods is The H.P. Boult House. Constructed in 1888, the house is a remarkably intact and is one of the best examples of a simplified Queen Anne style of architecture with Eastlake ornamentation in Springfield. The interior of the home, like the exterior, is well preserved.

The house was built in 1888 by H.P. and Mary Boult. H.P. worked as a miller. In 1890 Mr. Boult died and in 1891 Mary Boult, his widow, sold the house to Thomas B. Watt. Six generations of the Watt family have occupied the house until its purchase in 1981 by Robert Hayner. Today the H.P. Boult House is the headquarters of The Federation of Independent Illinois Colleges and Universities.

The H.P. Boult House was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.

Have a wonderful day!!

I collected about two dozen beautiful and varied leaves last night from the trees at Costco. My husband loaded our groceries while I wandered the parking lot searching for treasures. When we got home, I carefully laid the wet leaves on towels and put heavy pans over them to keep them from curling up and getting crunchy. I had dreams all night about what I could create with them.

On dreary days it's comforting to know that this is near my doorstep and I can't wait for the next visit.

happy Saturday!

This, too, is taken in the gardens near the rose garden at Point Defiance Park, located in Tacoma, Washington. I think I'm having a difficult time deciding which I like more, roses or dahlias! They're both so beautiful! Hope you all enjoy!

When we first arrived at Cam Loch the sun was directly above Suilven. Some half an hour later it finally dipped below the hill to the right casting an intense warm glow onto the mountain which was rendered in almost full silhouette due to the high dynamic range.

The ability to simplify means to eliminate the unnecessary so that the necessary may speak.
