Palazzina di Caccia di Stupinigi. by Giuseppe Pipia

La volta del salone centrale della Palazzina di Stupinigi.

Per la palazzina di caccia progettata da Juvarra, architetto preferito di casa Savoia, Vittorio Amedeo II commissionò ai fratelli bolognesi Giuseppe e Domenico Valeriani un grande affresco sulla volta, raffigurante il Trionfo di Diana, la dea classica della caccia che appare nella raffigurazione tra le nubi, al di sopra di un carro celeste sovrastante selve e boschi. Attorno si trovano inoltre putti con selvaggina o ghirlande di fiori, affiancati da ninfe e da geni silvani.

The ceiling of the main room of the Palazzina di Stupinigi.

Vittorio Amedeo II financed the brothers Giuseppe and Domenico Valeriani a fresco for the ceiling of the Palazzina di Caccia, designed by Juvarra. The fresco shows the Triumph of Diana, goddess of hunting, that appears amongst the clouds on a celestial chariot above the woods. Around the main fresco there are little children with game or flower decorations with nymphs and mythical woods figures.
