Our first night on the mountain, at Simba Camp, at 2620m. (It's also known as 1st Cave, though there's no actual cave here: the name comes from the where first camp was on the original Rongai route.)

Gov. Steve Beshear joins community leaders and officials of Simba USA in Morehead to announce the company will expand its Morehead operations, creating 20 new jobs and a $2.25 million investment.
Simba was born over 20 years ago, and died earlier this year (2015). She was born in captivity on a canned hunting farm. Most lions and all the males born on canned farms are raised to maturity and then placed in a small fenced area (the can) to be shot by wealthy hunters who will pay many thousands of pound/dollars. Simba was not the prettiest of lions and so was chosen as a breeding lion. This meant that as soon as she came into season the first time, her life was a never-ending cycle of reproduction. Once a lion has given birth she will not come into season again until her cubs stop suckling. On canned farms however the cubs are removed as soon as their eyes open, the lion comes into season and the cycle is started all over again. The effect on poor Simba was that she grew to be very aggressive indeed to humans and other lions, and in human terms would probably be described as psychopathic. Once rescued, in Drakenstein right to the end she retained these aggressive characteristics and could not be kept with other lions in the same enclosure.
Familjens katt har överlevt 17 kalla vintrar, , dagliga överfall från grannkatter och månadslånga vistelser i skogen kring Uvberg.
Simba developed a corneal ulcer. We suspect it was from his feline housemate. We are treating him aggressively to ensure the healing of his deep ulcer.
Simba has made his latest Conquest, securing a new bunk for his day time naps! Mission accomplished, he now telepathically summons his human to provide a soft and plush blanket for his comfort!
This is Simba our house cat, laying in his favorite spot to rest when he doesn't want bothering. As you can see he's even more laid back than me!! ; ). First and last pet pic!.
Now im not a fan of cats but simply couldnt resist this portrait of Simba lying in the grass, natural light only! sdof and big fluffy clouds make this a winner! - beaut!
