We went out in the late afternoon to the Gursi Swamp to looking for the elephant herds. No luck on them, but we did find this Simba laying right at the side of the road.
Taken in Samburu National Reserve.
Used the 500mm for this shot and this one is almost full frame. Shortly after this she moved so close that I had to put down the 500 and pick up the 70-200. I might add that we were in a safari vehicle.

Young Simba was one of the many cubs in a huge pride of Lions seen near Sand River in Masai Mara.
The pride had 4 lionesses, numerous cubs and one male Lion. The male Lion was sleeping so comfortably in a horrible position, I couldn't manage even one decent photograph of him.
I had to be content with the cubs playing and suckling on the their mothers.
My big boy, in a BW version.
Shot from the first roll using my Praktina FX. It needs some cleaning and relubing, but some of the shots came out OK.
Simba needed a big drink too, after a long day at the races. Charlie has just had a big slurp, well earnt, after winning his race, and now Simba has a go. These two share the float trip around the countryside going to the races, they share the race stall as pictured, and they share the water. Thats what friends are for.

My niece recently adopted this beautiful kitten that made for a beautiful subject in my review of the Canon eF 35mm f/1.4L II. His name is Simba, and that seems appropriate in this image here. This also shows off the beautiful bokeh rendering, intense contrast, and beautiful color from the 35L II. I've added a little extra saturation and some dodging and burning on the cat fur to give a little extra pop. but this image is very similar to what came out of camera. I'm producing a series of videos called the 35mm Shootout! that compare a number of the current 35mm options, take a look here: bit.ly/1PiS3MV
Technical info: Canon EOS 6D, Canon EF 35mm f/1.4L II USM, Processed in Adobe Lightroom CC, Adobe Photoshop CC, and Alien Skin Exposure X (Use Code "dustinabbott" to get 10% anything and everything)
