The king of beasts carefully watching as the king of birds passes by.

 

Was on our way out of the park after a long morning when our driver suddenly stopped and shouted "Simba". Through the back window we could see a male lion slowly walking across the savannah and moments later this lioness laid down by the waterhole we had just visited.

 

We drove back and I started taking photos of the lion with my aging Sigma lens - which by the way is ready for a replacement - and as I did that this eagle landed just a couple of meters away. I turned my attention to the majestic bird and it flew off passing right in front of the lion giving me this wonderful capture.
