"The size and grandeur of the car... deceive one about the performance which would do justice to many a car of more sporting pretensions. The finish, both in detail and the broader sense of equipment and trim, is superb." - Motor magazine on the Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud III.
Launched in 1962, the Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud III and its Bentley S3 equivalent employed the 6.2-litre V8 engine introduced on the 'Cloud II/S2 - though with larger carburettors, new distributor and raised compression ratio - and came with a four-speed GM-derived automatic transmission as standard equipment. Most obvious among many changes from the preceding models was the adoption of four-headlamp lighting, the absence of sidelights from the wing tops, and a slightly lower radiator shell. Inside there was improved accommodation with separate front seats and increased room for rear passengers. Notable as the last mainstream Rolls-Royce to employ a separate chassis, the Silver Cloud III proved immensely successful both at home and abroad, remaining in production until the autumn of 1965.
As well as the factory-bodied cars, bespoke creations from James Young and the recently merged firm of H J Mulliner, Park Ward Ltd (by this time Rolls-Royce-owned) continued to be available on the 'Cloud III chassis for those discerning enthusiasts wealthy enough to afford them. Indeed, as the factory did not offer a convertible or drophead coupé, a coachbuilt car was the only option if one's preference was Rolls-Royce-style fresh air motoring. First introduced in 1958, H J Mulliner's drophead was the most successful of its type, lasting into 1965.
Dating from the final year of production, 'L.CSC.33C' is one of the very last 42 coachbuilt cars on the Silver Cloud III chassis; indeed, by the time the guarantee was issued on 21st February 1966, the successor Silver Shadow model had already been shown to the public (at Earls Court in 1965).
Intended for use in the USA, this original left-hand drive car was ordered with numerous special features including Jetstar air conditioning, windtone horns, electric aerial, driver's outside mirror, additional loudspeaker, additional (driver's) headrest, Sundym glass throughout, electric windows, and the heavy gauge frame. The original colour scheme was Shell Grey with scarlet leather interior and black hood. The Silver Cloud was shipped to Rolls-Royce Inc in New York and retailed by Peter Zage & Co Ltd to their customer Dr W C Casey, MD, at that time living on Wiltshire Boulevard in Los Angeles. Unfortunately, nothing else is known of its history in the USA.
Around 2002 the Rolls-Royce belonged to a Mr Reid Davis, who kept the car at Lake Oswego in Oregon. McDonald Vintage Restorations in Canby, Oregon restored the car in 2002-2003 (restoration invoices available). A replacement engine ('S1608') was installed by Tony Handler Inc at the same time.
In 2004 the Silver Cloud was offered for sale at an auction in France from where it was sold to Ukraine. Residing in Ukraine ever since, the car has scarcely been used since its acquisition in 2004, covering only some 500 kilometres in the course of nearly 20 years. Sold because of the ongoing war in Ukraine - and extremely lucky to be a survivor after the battle for Kyiv - this end-of-an-era coachbuilt Rolls-Royce is offered with copies of the factory build sheets and Ukrainian registration documents.
Saw this gem today being driven by some old folks on Sound Beach Avenue in Old Greenwich, Connecticut. It's hard to tell from the lighting, but it was silver with a green exterior. As I was taking this, some kids in the tan Honda in the background were yelling at me "NERD!" and I flipped them off in front of their parents, and that was the greatest spotting day I've ever had.
This is how the ship´s home page describes it:
"Spacious yet intimate, designed to cross oceans and yet able to slip up rivers and into hidden harbours with ease, the yacht-like Silver Cloud carries just 296 guests in incomparable comfort and style. Combining spacious ocean-view suites and private verandas with stunning dining and entertainment options, our inaugural ship launched a new ocean standard and continues to epitomize Silversea’s vision of world-class cruise accommodations, service and amenities."

The J. P. Blatchley design was a major change from the pre-war models and the highly derivative Silver Dawn. As part of a range rationalisation the Bentley S1 is very similar, apart from its radiator grille.
The chassis was a simple steel box section, welded together and very rigid. Construction retained the traditional split between chassis and body, which facilitated the provision of special bodied versions though in practice the overwhelming majority of cars were delivered with the standard steel body shell, produced by Pressed Steel, and employing light weight aluminium based alloy for the doors, bonnet/hood and boot lid.
The engine was a 155 hp / 4000 rpm 4.9 L six-cylinder unit with inlet over exhaust valves: twin SU carburettors were added in September 1957.The standard transmission was a four-speed automatic, giving atop speed of just over 100mph
Brakes were hydraulic and assisted by the Rolls-Royce mechanical servo with 11 in (279 mm) drums and suspension was independent coils at the front and semi-elliptic springs at the rear. Twin brake master cylinders were incorporated from April 1956, when power steering and air conditioning became an option.

**UPDATE**
July 2, 2018: After a few weeks of last ditch efforts, nothing really panned out, so on July 14th, the Hive will be closing down. I'm so grateful to have had this time to share my work with you all, and more to to hear you enjoyed it! Thank you for visiting The Hive!
June 23, 2018: The folks i rent the land from have since dropped the weekly payments from $18,499L to $16,999L since i originally posted this. The irony of the timing of this is not lost on me, lol.
Secluded spacious mansion with lots of acreage, old world charm and massive secret underground viral research facility. Perfect starter home for the family, sociopaths or the handyman. Property includes large vaulted ceilings, countless corridors and hallways, laser death trap and original hardwood floors! Bonus: Entire greater downtown area of Raccoon City and dilapidated shopping mall with killer arcade!
I have to find humor in it or I'll start getting sentimental, but after a surprisingly many years of being financial independent off the sales from my store and the unbelievably kind support from the community that has rallied behind the sim, I can no longer afford to keep it all going.
At the current rate things are going, we have a solid 4 weeks left, (as of June 18) but rather than close the sim outright, I'll be looking into options to transfer ownership of the sim in it's entirety to someone who can financial afford it's weekly payments. If you'd be interested in owning the Hive and Raccoon City Sim, feel free to contact me in-world, Andy Harper (andy2.spore)
I will say though, should I have to close the sim, that'd be ok too. Everyone who's visited or bought things from my store has given me an incredibly humbling show of support and provided an extremely unique opportunity allowing me to create freely without worry for over 6+ years! Thank you for your support, It's been great fun making the sim and an even better time seeing you enjoy it!
I'd also like to specifically thank Ashleey Andrew, Eripom^^, Scottyjackson24 and Geralt Silvercloud for you exceedingly and often unexpected kindness, support and friendship!!

About to undergo some fettling at Berlin's Classic Remise. I believe this is LSVB 451 - it was first delivered to New Jersey and sold at auction in the US in 2012. Only 75 LHD dropheads were built; there can't be too many of them that are black with black tops and red pinstriping. Love Rollers on steel wheels, they just look so sinister.

Facing increasing competition from faster rivals and with development of its ageing six-cylinder engine nearing its end, Rolls-Royce turned to V8 power as the 1960s approached. Introduced in the autumn of 1959, the Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud II and Bentley S2 appeared externally unchanged from their 'Cloud and S-Type predecessors, though the duo's performance was considerably enhanced by the new 6,230cc aluminium-alloy V8 engine. Although wider and shorter than the 'six' it replaced, the new power unit fitted relatively easily within the engine bay, relocation of the steering box from inside to outside of the chassis frame being the most obvious alteration to the previous arrangements. Externally the new models appeared virtually unchanged, while beneath the skin Rolls-Royce's own four-speed automatic transmission was now the only one on offer and power steering was standardised. Immensely successful both at home and abroad, the Silver Cloud II and Bentley S2 remained in production until the autumn of 1962.
As well as the factory-bodied cars, bespoke creations from coachbuilders James Young and the now merged firm of H J Mulliner, Park Ward Ltd (now Rolls-Royce-owned) continued to be available on the 'Cloud II chassis for those discerning enthusiasts wealthy enough to afford them. Indeed, as the factory did not offer a convertible or drophead coupé, a coachbuilt car was the only option if one's preference was Rolls-Royce-style fresh air motoring. Available in both Rolls-Royce and Bentley forms, H J Mulliner's two-door drophead coupé (Design No. 7504) was by far the most popular, a total of 107 being built on the Cloud II/S2 standard-wheelbase chassis (74 left-hand drive and 33 right-hand drive). Hand crafted style such as this attracted a hefty premium though, H J Mulliner's convertible being priced some 30% above the standard Silver Cloud II four-door saloon, which was already one of the world's most expensive cars.
Dating from the final year of production, this H J Mulliner-bodied Silver Cloud II drophead is the fourth from last example built. Chassis number 'LSAE499' was built to North American specification and shipped to Montreal, Canada in July 1962. Through Rolls-Royce of Canada Ltd, the car was handed over to a local Montreal dealer, Budd & Dyer Ltd, and delivered to its first owner, Mr V G Cardy of Quebec, Canada.
The second owner, Mr James J Reeves of Pensacola, Florida, USA purchased the Silver Cloud II on 6th November 1972. On 10th October 1974, the car changed hands again and was sold to The Carriage House in New York. Exported to Spain in 2006, where it remained for another 10 years or so. The Rolls-Royce was subsequently exported to Belgium. The engine and transmission were completely overhauled in 2019 and we're advised that the car is presented in very good mechanical and running condition. The car comes with a nice history file including copies of the Rolls Royce production records.
