As an Asian woman, my personal experience during the pandemic is the silent pressure I received from the public. I’ve noticed that Asians most of the time wear, or are expected to wear, masks in the public despite the fact that mask is no longer required. Personally, I strongly feel that the mask not only creates physical distance, such as social distancing, but also the mental barrier from the public when it comes to acceptance. Through this illustration, I aim to present the irony where non-Asian customers at a sushi bar could even distance themselves from the Asian customer because of sensitivity and lack of understanding about the virus. While Asian cultures have been largely consumed in the United States, do locals really respect its culture and its people?

Okay, this is just a graphic I made with a bunch of random pictures from silent hill and all over. Hope you like it. :}

Stacey and Steve conduct the silent auction at our Museum. *

The event is the first annual DIYine ( pronounced, Dee-Eye-Wine ), HOME BREW WINE TASTING.

It was organized as a benefit for the Santa Cruz Fruit Tree Project.

Here is the situation:

In Santa Cruz, it is not unusual to see plums squashed all over the sidewalk, from a wasted tree.

Steve and others have been working to change this for the past few years. By connecting folks with fruit trees and their neighbors, waste is being minimized. (Plus neighborly connections are made!)

So, the shared bounty leads to the MAH wine tasting event.

The Museum has a new director- Nina Simon- who is determined to make it a part of the community.

She has a banner up, outside, with the word, "PARTICIPATE", hollering onto the street.

The wine tasting for not wasting fruit trees is exactly the kind of thing she wants to happen.

She and i have passed a few emails back and forth because she would someday like to get Bliss Dance, here in Santa Cruz. It would be very expensive to move it here, ** but maybe…

** - the Black Rock Foundation funded the move to the lawn on Treasure Island from the TI studio.

- the set-up and the take-down costs are between 35 and 40 thousand dollars. that's alot, considering that the piece only had to be moved two blocks from the studio:

Silent Witness PA (SWPA) is an organization of gay and straight allies dedicated to providing a non-confrontational buffer between those who condemn others based on their sexual orientation or identity and those they condemn. We provide visual protection from "street preachers" and protesters at events such as Pridefests, the showing of films such as Jim in Bold and For the Bible Tells Me So, or staging of plays such as The Laramie Project, using our bodies and rainbow umbrellas as shields. In times of need, we intervene to prevent confrontations between protesters and event participants, often acting as escorts for those who would like to attend such events. Where there are those who publicly promote hate, we will be there to help provide a loving, supportive front opposing them. We are not counter-protesters. Instead, we provide a visual representation of support for those in our society who may feel marginalized.

Silent Witnesses receive significant training in non-confrontation techniques specially designed for the type of work they do. Only those who have received this training may participate in an event as a Silent Witness. Silent Witnesses are easily recognized by their special safety vests and rainbow umbrellas.

PrideFest of Central Pennsylvania was held on July 26, 2008. The parade was so much fun! I'm a straight, liberal woman and I consider myself an activist for both animals and people. I'm also a Christian and people of all walks of life deserve kindness and compassion. Your sexual preference, male or femiale, isn't my business. Are you kind? Are you compassionate? Are you faithful, loyal and honest? Those are the things that tell me about a person.

A project exploring the ephemeral moment. Through this series I want to create a silent protest against the HS2 following a video of my progress. As this areas will be affected.

artEAST, the local arts booster organization is having a fund raiser silent auction of 100+ one-foot-square pieces donated by local artists. We were enticed into bidding on more than we can afford to win so you should really go take a look. It's hanging in the back room of the "Up Front" gallery on Front Street until I think next Friday. Plus you can bid online starting on Monday at the artEAST website: www.arteast.org/ Becky has a piece in there but it's not in this picture (#85 if you want to see it on the website )

There's something about owls, especially the big ones, they got that whole "silent killer in the night" thing going.

This week, the sequel to Silent Hill (which was originally filmed in Brantford) was filmed in downtown Galt, Cambridge. This was the setting for when Rose enters the town across the bridge.

One mighty imposing rock in Yosemite National Park is the El Capitan. This is the other one. And equally competes for the title as well.

Standing 4800 ft above the valley floor, its sheer vertical slope cut out by the grinding forces of mighty glaciers millenia ago is a daunting testament to the natural forces carving the earths geological features.

Its high altitude often attracts the thunderstorm clouds that approach to caress the tip and provide a silent whisper or two. Perhaps they are communicating on what the weather should be like the next day. It is quite mesmerizing to watch the clouds drift in and out of the top.

It may look beautiful, but as mentioned in the previous post, they can also be deadly. Hence, it is best observed from afar. Especially with random weather patterns threatening the peak.

Silent Valley Reservoir, possibly one of the most popular places in the Mourne Mountains.

Taken from the dam area.

Maybe you think this one's boring, but in my opinion it's special with all the footprints in the snow, the clouds (you can only guess where they are), the hump in the middle and the flakes on the photo giving it this special old look.
