I wish you all a wonderful year 2017 and all your wishes come true!

If you are a little off the known paths of Rothenburg, you get outside the city walls into the valley where the River Tauber flows. Here stands this beautiful medieval bridge and next to it an enchanting half-timbered house.

Finally, the winter has also arrived in Bavaria. It took some time, but he came with full force.

Shieldaig (Scottish Gaelic: Sìldeag; Old Norse: síld-vík, lit. 'herring bay') is a village in Wester Ross in the Northwest Highlands

The village was founded in 1800[3] with a view to training up seamen for war against Napoleon. After his (initial) defeat and exile to Elba, the community found itself a new role as a fishing village. The small island just offshore never had its tall pines harvested to rig warships, and has now become a nature sanctuary. WiKi

We were photographing a herd of wild horses when these two came thundering down the hill out of no where. They just thundered past us and kept going. Nothing so grand as the wild ones! It was almost dark so BW seemed appropriate.

Only in the winter with snow the old bridge over the river Regen meets its name "The White Bridge". Why it is so, I unfortunately do not know.

Lynx bridge.

The name Lynx bridge comes from the fact that the bridge was built over the territory of the old zoo. The lynx is the coat of arms of Tallinn Zoo

This pedestrian bridge is just a few years old and will probably be famous for being hung with love locks. Hopefully it is not faring her there like a bridge in France, which is partially collapsed due to the weight of the many locks.

The name of the bridge is reminiscent of Tsar Alexander III. (1845-1894), who in 1891 had suggested to Sadi Carnot, the French President, the conclusion of a defensive alliance, from which the beginning of 1894 sealed the French-Russian Alliance developed.

The town of Christchurch in Dorset is a delight. This narrow medieval bridge, which spans the old Mill Stream, is just a stone’s throw from Christchurch Priory, and just look at it – together with the weeping willow, a joy for any passing photographer.

Town Bridge in Christchurch, Dorset, dates back to the 14th or 15th centuries, and is sometimes known locally as Quartley’s Bridge after a former mayor of the town. It spans the River Avon at Castle Street and is part of a road that has been in existence since at least the 13th century.

Floating Temple Katata Mangetsu-ji Ukimi-do

location : ,Lake Biwa ( Biwako) ,Otsu city,Shiga prefecture,Japan

Ukimido is one of the Zen temples headed by Daitokuji Temple 大徳寺 in Murasakino,Kyoto. Its official name is Kaimonzan Mangetsuji Temple 満月寺. This temple was originally constructed on Lake Biwa around 995.and houses 1,000 Amida Biddhist figures. Priest Genshin( also called Eshin) prayed for safe travel on the lake ,and for the salvation of mankind.

The present Ukimido was rebuilt in 1937 after suffering severe damage by the Muroto Typhooon in 1934. Gyokuko-Tei Teahouse was built by reusing timber from the temple. The platform of old temple was constructed at the command of Emperor Sakuramachi. A seated figure of 1000-years-old Sho Kannon is placed in the Kannon-do.This figure is one of Japan's important cultural properties.

Ukimido 浮御堂 is regarded as one of the eight most senic place in Ohmi,Shiga (Oumi-hakkei 近江八景),and is also referred to as 'Katata Rakugan'堅田の落雁 (a view of sild geese crossing the sky above Lake Biwa). The platform affords a great view Mt.Ibuki 伊吹山,Choumei-ji temple長命寺,Mt.Mikami 三上山, and the top of Mt.Hiei 比叡山 and Okinoshima Island 沖島.At this temple, each season reveals the full splendor of its beauty.

Long ago ,young Ikkyu Zenji 一休禅師(一休さん)some time studying this area. Many famous artist and poets such as Basho Matuso松尾芭蕉,Issa Kobayashi小林一茶,Hiroshige Ando安藤広重,and Hokusai Katsushika葛飾北斎 paid a visit here and left behind poetry and pictures.A 600-year-old pine tree and the serenity of Lake Biwa combine to create the tranquil atmosphere of this exquisite temple.

Finally, in this short series from Morden Hall Park, here’s another view of the River Wandle as it ambles through the former private estate. In the background is Morden Hall itself – once a substantial family mansion which, along with the park, was bequeathed to the National Trust by Gilliat Hatfeild (the spelling’s correct) in 1906.

Today, Morden Hall is an upmarket wedding venue and the surrounding open space is a park for all the people. There’s no entrance fee, and it’s one of London’s natural delights.

Once upon a time Siglufjörður was very famous for the Herring. Time has gone, but you can visit www.sild.is/en/ for more Information.

The little town of Mostar – once part of Yugoslavia and now in Bosnia & Herzegovina – suffered terribly during the war which led to the break-up of Yugoslavia. One of the flashpoints was the unforgivable destruction of Stari Most, the 16th century bridge over the Neretva river, in 1993.

After the war, the bridge was rebuilt in the form of an exact replica, and internationally-funded work was completed in 2004. And here it stands today, beautiful though not of course original.

The bridge is 29 meters high and attracts tourists from all over the world. Jumping from the bridge ('bridge diving') is a local ‘rites of passage’ tradition that goes back hundreds of years; if local boys don’t do it, goes the legend, they’ll be a failure for the rest of their lives. But if they misjudge what they're doing, the result could be fatal.

These days, jumps are strictly regulated by the local Mostari diving club, and the activity’s certainly not for the faint-hearted.
