I expected a more difficult road to the top here, but it was all blacktop and plenty wide. Our guide book said this should be one of the two things you do if you have almost no time at all in the Tetons. I must concur.
I assume this mountain is signal mountain because it is brought to you by your friendly Telco in association with GnomesCorp because its decked out with a cell tower at the top.
There was a power failure on the East Coast Line - like we care!!! They had somehow cleared the fast line, so anything that didn't need electricity could use that line. This meant that, unusually, we were running down the fast line. Only problem is, the Princess Elizabeth, in common with other main-line steam engines, is limited to 75mph while the Virgin Pendolinos can do over 100mph. So, every now and then, we'd be switched to the slow line and held at a signal while the Pendolino whizzed passed. Then we'd be back out on the fast line. It did mean we went over Sharnbrook Summit rather than going through Wymington Tunnel.
