Like the way the heat haze blurs the line of coal wagons pulled by Type 5 Class66 at Barnet East in North Lincolnshire.
PN109, protecting platform 3C at Preston, shows a proceed aspect onto the Up Slow line for 153301 for another departure to Ormskirk. The signalling layout at Preston is such that south of the station, all four lines are bi-directional, with access to all platforms available from all four running lines through a number of points moves. This is the standard move for the 153, as it needs to be on the slow line for the junction at Farringdon Curve, which will allow it to access the line to Ormskirk, which formerly was through to Liverpool.
For whatever reason, I was getting a 2-bar signal on my phone while 37,000 feet in the air somewhere between Dallas and Nashville.
Signal Hill's oil fields have been pumping oil since the 1920's, and pumping cash into the coffers of the tiny southern California city of Signal Hill, completelty surrounded by the sprawling city of Long Beach. The upper portions of the 300-plus foot hill are still pumping oil, while sharing the land with gated communities and expensive homes. There are no homes close to this area on the Northern slope, but these flowers have 'mysteriously' spread across the hillside.
The AWS system commenced in the early 1900's in England. the black and yellow sunflower pictured is for restricted signals. The sunflower changes to black on green signals. if the driver does not acknowledge the restricted signal by pressing a button the brakes are applied.
Signal 88 is a security company. Signal 88 is a code used by police in Nebraska that means "situation secure."

The Colne Valley Railway have recently acquired another signal-box. It is currently sitting on a low-loader wagon, waiting for a base, a crane and the manpower to place it on it's new base. While it sits there, I smile at the shaver socket on the outside wall!
