Had to do a slow night exposure for a photo class. Loved the colors on this sign.

52/365 The effects of the financial crisis are felt most keenly in Spain. The golf-cum-holiday resorts in Spain though are somewhat of an anathema.
This is Mar Menor near Los Alcazares and you can see the sign has never been maintained. In the distance is 'The Boulevard'; built in 2008 to a modest standard but very few are occupied. The resort has a low, but increasing level of occupancy, but you can see, on the right, that new buildings are still going up.
Some of these resorts have fully built hotels that have either closed or never opened in the first place.
One of the resorts was hit so hard and so quickly that not only were many of the buildings left incomplete, they abandoned the cranes that were building them.
It seems so wasteful that so many people are struggling here yet there is a multitude of property which could be put to better use. So sad!
I've been gone for a while!
I'm happy to be back. Lots of news to share!
I recently went to Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. I've never been to a maritime province before but I quite enjoyed it.
My girlfriend and I went out and had an amazing time. We ate a lot of food, drank a lot of beer, and had an overall enjoyable experience.
The customer service we received at every establishment (hotel, bar, restaurant, pubs, etc) was perfect. Such a friendly place!
Peggy's cove was the highlight of my trip. I've never seen the ocean before and my breath literally escaped me. I didn't know what to say.
We spent the day exploring little fishing villages on our way to this famous lighthouse. I'll be posting a lot of photos from this trip!
When we arrived, we ate at the local restaurant by the lighthouse. It was the first time that I had a full lobster! I had to take it apart myself...quite the experience...but it set me up well for the next night when I had two more on my own!
After this, we went to the lighthouse for the sunset where I proceeded to take more photos. My girlfriend was a little freaked out because I was being "risque." There were signs all over the place saying to stay off the black rocks because the water could come up at any time and sweep you away. Danger! Death! Etc...Lots of very specific signs.
Challenge accepted.
I spent most of my time on those rocks because I needed to capture something that not everyone could get.
After the sunset, we found a bench that faced the ocean...after trying to get Iram's attention...I finally proposed!!
She said OMG YES! and we are now engaged to be married!
Definitely an amazing trip that I will never forget!
This looks better when viewed large. Do me a favor and hit the L key please!
In Long Island City, with New York skyline. This is the red neon Pepsi Cola sign that you can see from the east side of Manhattan across the East River.
Voted fifth in Lonely Planet Publications group's Signs challenge
We're Here! for This.
This image is a follow-up to the challenge presented at Blank Sign Challenge. Feel free to play along!
In dutch the saying is (translated): he who digs a pit for another person, will fall into it himself.
I always think of that when I see this warning sign. But it means that you have to drive slowly, roadwork in progress (hazard for the roadworkers).
I'm not really a big fan of new items made to look old, but I rather like this clock for sale at our local home and garden store. I don't like it enough to pay $130, but I find it rather appealing!
For the All New Scavenger Hunt challenge - four different clocks. I'm replacing one of my earlier shots.

Parkinson's disease has had a negative effect on the fine motor control in my hands. So far it has not been severe enough to cause major problems in my daily life.
I have noticed though, it does make it difficult to form a peace sign or to flip someone off. What's an old hippie to do?
Challenge: take this blank sign (found in ancient Rome) and put your own signage on it. Comment here with link.
Thanks for playing!

A Ministry Of Defence sign to remind tracked vehicles not to use the public road when they leave Wakering Stairs and Foulness Island.
Now why couldn't I have found this a couple of weeks ago when we did the signs challenge?
We drove out to Cannon Beach to escape the heat yesterday and boy did we! I don't think it ever got above 70 degrees. This is a sign on a restaurant on the main street of town.
Kiwi crossing sign.....only in New Zealand. One more thing that makes NZ unique.

Taken for Canon S5IS OOC challenge - Signs
I've had a weird fascination with this place for a while now. I always think there's a photo there somewhere. When the sign challenge came up I thought it would be a good subject. I used the vivid color setting to help overcome the gray light today. Extra points if you can spot the 4th sign here. You may need to look at it in original size to see it.
