The Flowers that bloom by Jerry Ham
When flowers are in bloom, it's an awesome sight.
As they spread their petals to catch hold of the light.
We water and feed them, and take special care,
As we want their beauty to always be there.
The colors I see are a shock to behold,
They can blend together or stand out bold.
But if I get careless and forget to feed,
I open the door to some dark ugly weeds.
If left untended, they can block out the sun,
And before too long the damage is done.
That's how the memories are in my mind,
As back in the paths of the past I wind.
There is the good and there is the bad.
They both make up the life that I've had.
The question is, which one will hold sway?
Which one will I let take over my day?
Lord, give me the strength to only make room,
In the paths of my memory, for the flowers that bloom.
Tulip from the top in bloom.
1. For the composition of this photo I tryed to center the tulip as it is the focal point. I also tryed to get as close as possible using macro mode and not get much background. Overall I think I was able to accomplish this and create positive space.
2. I was able to seperate my subject from my background because the pinkish/coral in the flower is quite a bit brighter then the green in the leaves.
3. This photo was taken around 1-2pm so I was able to use the natural outdoor lighting of the sun. I did not need to add any additonal flash or artificial lighting of any sort.
4. I used auto white balance and was able to use macro mode to take this close up shot of a tulip. It was difficult to capture a good photo of a tulip in any other way other then looking down at it especially in macro mode.
5. Because the tulip is not completely open I thought this portrayed my choice of poem very well as the tulip is still "blooming". I also thought this flower portrayed spring very well because of the gorgeous color.
main light behind the subject on camera left, fill light behind camera, and a kicker on the right behind subject.

The Erawan Museum in Samut Prakan, is famous for its giant three-headed elephant statue, which houses a collection of Thai art, antiques, and religious artifacts across three levels representing the underworld, earth, and heaven.
The thing we liked most was the impressive staircase - that was amazing.
We visited the Erawan and the Ancient City as part of a group tour, which included transportation and entrance fees - I think it was about $20 USD per person - not bad at all.
