Photo Caption: After being operated for cataract in the annual free eye surgery camp, poor patients with “Hope In Sight” (to get their lost vision back), waiting to be transfer to free accommodation with meal. Annual eye camp is being organized every year since 1984 by a NGO named Bhansali Trust. Every year about 50,000.00 (fifty thousand) poor patients are operated in camps organized in Bihar state of India. So far about 80000 million cataract operations have been carried out in 37 such camps. Apart from the elderly people suffering from cataract, children having congenital cataract are also operated.
Many Ophthalmologists, nursing staff and volunteers take part, with preparations beginning months in advance when doctors and workers visit in neighboring states of Bihar, Jharkhand and Utter Pradesh in hundreds of centers covering thousands of villages and check thousands of patients. Those who need urgent operation are provided with a registration card on the spot with a date of surgery mention on it.

While in Tokyo, i stayed at Ryogoku. 3 minutes walk to 両国国技館 (Ryōgoku Kokugi-kan), where there was a sumo tournament going on. Spotted many of the sumo wrestlers - at the train station, the food stalls & streets around my area.
A sad sight. This female Kingfisher probably flew into the strandwire around the boardwalk & suffered a broken wing so could not fly. 1st view behind some grass on the shingle but got closer view when realised it could not fly. I believe it was rescued & taken to RSPCA centre. hope they get it flying again, we need all these beauties around our waters
Can you believe who rolled into town today for less than four freakin' hours. Not even time for dinner. But lots of time for highly concentrated coffee talk! Great to see them, and quite a surprise.
Though I am miffed at Doug. I've known the guy for like 4 years now, and on his first visit to Vancouver where I actually see him in Vancouver, I had to see him by semi-surprise! That guy....

This is Knaresborough's oldest building. Inside the lodge is a most peculiar sight - a tree in a cupboard. It is said that when King John was staying at Knaresborough Castle, he would leave his attendants under a great oak tree on the banks of ther River Nidd while he went out hunting. Eventually, he built a hunting lodge around the tree. That was in 1208, and the ancient oak's trunk and roots remain at the heart of the Old Manor House to this day.
The garden of this historic home holds a beautiful black mulberry tree, which is over 400 years old. It is believed to have been planted back in 1608. This was the time when James I was encouraging the development of the national silk industry. Unfortunately, his attempts were not successful as the silkworms would only feed on the white mulberry trees rather than the black.

This was never a common sight in my time living in Kansas City, but these days, it is extremely rare, especially with favorable light. But the Railroad Gods looked out for me on this day. Luckily, this was a Saturday morning with no traffic around on the Woodsweather Bridge. I was able to stop, get out and get a few shots of this stopped KCS grain (100 cars). KCS SD70ACe #4199 leds with KCSM Grey Ghost CW44AC #4574 trailing.
