Cut-leaf Philodendron (a.k.a. Tree Philodendron, Selloum, Self-header; Philodendron bipinnatifidum) - Sideyard, Titusville, Florida
"Sweet 16" ?
Well it seems it takes 16 years for these guys to reach adulthood, and come into bloom. So since this is the first year I've seem any blossoms on this Philodendron I presume it must be sixteen years old.
This guy is a real beast with leaves 5 - 6 feet in length from stem to leaf-tip, and the flower is about the size of my head.
So, tra-la la-la la Happy Birthday Sweet Sixteen,
and enjoy those fruitful years ahead!
Note: The Tree Philodendron is native to
Paraguay and southeastern Brazil.
Imagine my surprise and delight to see all these huge shaggy inkcap mushrooms at my veterinary clinic property today. I ran home and got my macro lens. A few hours later, their landscaper mowed them all down.
Below:
*The mother cat went home this afternoon. Mother cat & kittens were happy to be reunited.
*The tuxedo kitten will go to the no-kill cat shelter.
*I took in the tabby kitten [in previous pics] today to be neutered and he will be returned to the owners.
For Jeanne.. These are the ones I was talking about..
These are probably some kind of noxious weeds that over take and kill everything in their path. I still feel itchy just looking at them.
However, the bumble bees LOVE them!
Okay, they start out as some kind of green pod. Them they morph open to this white goo covered flower and then out they come as a yellow flower.
Now, the last time I saw pods was in Pod people (also known as The Body Snatchers).
We have a winner!! Grindelia squarrosa (Pursh) Dunal (Curly-Cup Gumweed).
Fetch in the side yard. She worked out fetching. I worked out with my 70-200mm today. It's a heavy one. But such lovely compression. Note to self: take it out for a spin more often.
Another scene around my house that I've taken for granted. This quiet Buddha has sat undisturbed under our Bay tree for too many years to remember. He has weathered with the seasons but has never lost his tranquil and serene countenance.

We’ve had these pavers for several years, but they weren’t particularly organized. The workers assembled them all and gave us a very nice walkway. Amazingly, we had exactly the correct number to complete this part of the project.
We had a lawn crew from CL Services do a lot of work on the back and side yards today. We’ve used them for our lawn care for several years now. This crew did a great job.
It was a beautiful fall day here in Marietta today; sunny, breezy and temperatures in the high sixties to lower seventies. Fall color is getting established in the trees and plants in our neighborhood, as well. Donna worked with the crew while I ran some needed errands
Next door to the yellow Curly-Cup Gumweeds we find the pink things growing.
I didn't notice any bees buzzing around them. But I guess you'd have to have some kind of honey shooting out of your flower sprouts to get noticed when you have Curly-Cup Gumweeds oozing their white goo right next to you.
Such is life in the wild I guess.
Oddly enough, they look just like these.... over here.. Only w/o the funny hats.
