West Side Diner, at 1380 Westminster Street in Providence, Rhode Island, is a classic art deco, stainless steel 1947 Kullman model diner. Walter Scott began the first lunch cart/wagon service in Providence, Rhode Island in 1872, the precursor to modern diners and fast food establishments. Joseph and Mary Poirier opened this diner in 1947 on Atwells Avenue and operated it until 1955.

Like many diners, it had many owners and many names over the years, including Top Hat, Krystal’s, and El Faro. It closed in 1999, but a man named Jon Özbek saved it from the wrecking ball. It was restored and moved to its current location in 2011. It reopened two years later with new owners and a new name, the West Side Diner. It was added National Register of Historic Places in 2003.

It sort of nice that as I keep looking over the images from this shoot I continue to find ones that work. I suppose that I could go back on a lot of the stuff from the past year and find more expect that I've not really had too many good trips out with the camera. 2014 will be my best year yet (of course) and I will be shooting a lot of images.

Here's a study from the same Common ground Beetle I took yesterday at 10x.

I chose a spot and just did the stack to see what the result would be.

I think from now on I will be focusing on certain aspects of insects instead of just random body parts as it may aid me considerably in terms of studying for Animal Diverity, a module I am taking in Univeristy for my Zoology degree :)

Hope you like it, be sure to fav and comment if you wish !

Note - strange red line on upper region may be double refraction of some kind, light getting in behind lens..

My vehicle actually has a roof, what a giant step for the mankind! ;)

That's why side portals were necessary. And ladders now make more sense. Also, cargo bay is somewhat longer and the lab - not as tall as the original one. Larger scale offers opportunities, I guess.

A little splash of color before I upload a dozen million or so pictures of the current winter wonderland outside of my door. :)

It's absolutely gorgeous outside; gorgeous and a bit treacherous hence why I am not out there right now. Have no fear, I will be out in the morning to capture the beautiful, soft, fluffy magic that is winter. I found a new trail close to where I live... I can hardly wait.

I took this picture while roaming around inside of the Butterfly Pavilion in Broomfield, CO. It felt like summer because of the climate control but when we walked outside it was a completely different story. Oh well, it was completely worth it. Such beauty, so peace in that place. Loved.Every.Second.

The reason I love this image so much is because my cam/lens/me pretty much split this leaf in half as far as focus is concerned. I rather like the almost mirrored image; where both sides are well detailed but one is as if you're looking in the past and the other is looking toward the future. Behind are all the foggy memories, forward is the crisp and clear future.
