Returning to action after a week away from home. This is another chapter in the assortment of beautiful cascades along Sweet Creek near Sweet Creek Falls in Mapleton, Oregon. Since I've already talked extensively about this area in my previous uploads, for those who do actually read this, I will share a humorous story. At the end of photographing, I was crossing Sweet Creek back to the trail and missed the rock I was hopping to and my right shoe got soaked under the water. Flash forward to me in the car taking off my shoe and changing to a dry pair of socks. I made the decision to drive back to Florence with just my sock on, no shoe. We get about a mile down the windy road and I finally get above 50 mph and all of the sudden I hear this "bang" on the top of the car. I immediately look in the rear view mirror and what do I see? Yes, that would be my Nike shoe flying off of the car and careening like a bouncing ball on the road. I was able to quickly reverse and pick up my shoe. Surprised that my shoe lasted up there as long as it did. Oooooops! Thanks for checking this out, and reading this. Enjoy!

well, i'm off to spend a couple of days with my friend cate. we'll hang around, catch up, talk, play with her newly adopted kitty, laugh, drink, and watch the oscars. (well, we really just rail on the celebrities, but seriously, if alan arkin doesn't win best supporting actor for "little miss sunshine" i'm gonna fuckin' kill someone.)

Larch Mountain is becoming one of my new favourite places.
I'm not quite sure why it isn't over run with Portlanders escaping the daily grind. I do see people up there every time I go, but still, not with the amount I'd expect. So... maybe I should shutup and let is stay not so popular! :-P
I'd much rather the platform be clear, or instead have people star gazing, instead of my equipment cluttering up the place. At the top of the platform the red light is a camera recording a timelapse (I'll post that sometime), the other lights are mobile lamps I brought to try and record some of the video tutorial. The Moon was about 3/4, so too bright to give the sky I wanted for the tutorial.
But man, you should have seen me huffin and puffin like an old man carryin' all that crap up there in a backpack! Nothing let's you know your physical fitness level like an overloaded backpack on an uphill hike...
I've got a few more shots from this weekend, but I'm impatiently waiting for the next break in the clouds. Fingers crossed that it comes soon. I need me some stars!
Oh, the tutorial- it sucked.
