right outside my window.they started at 6pm and are STILL going on at 10.30! aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh!! i have a headache!
How can I tell you that the reason I don't respond is because I don't want to, because it upsets me. And I don't want to be upset. I have to take care of myself right now! You just don't get it, it's not like the other times when I was crawling on my knees to get you to love me again. Even though I thought I was right about things. Not this time. No more. I feel stronger than before, and I won't feed your hunger of victim behaviour. I'm not gonna say nasty things to you like you did to me, again. 'Cause that will only give you a change to play the poor poor thing who were said bad things to. So I'm gonna be quiet. This is my only response. And it's already too much. If memory serves, I took this at a much different locale than the previous few photos, in the northern Solitario interior just down the Righthand Shutup Road from its junction with its Lefthand Shutup equivalent. And I think I was facing generally southward, as the position of the light source seems to indicate.
If this is correct, I'm looking across the desert pavement, old fenceline, and Chihuahuan plant community at ridges composed of Cambrian and Ordovician strata—the Marathon, Fort Peña, and Dagger Flat Formations.

Looking northeast, on the northern Solitario entrance road.
There happens to be a very subtle but helpful locator feature in this image: the tiny section of power line in the upper left corner. This suggests that I'm in that portion of the uplift's northern rim where there is a sill of Upper Eocene rhyolite. It was intruded into the Lower Cretaceous Shutup Conglomerate, and is associated with the more deeply seated laccolith that pushed up the sedimentary strata above it into the Solitario dome.
The rhyolite is white and also somewhat darker where weathered. I believe I'm here about 0.3 mi (0.5 km) south of a nice exposure of it, nicknamed "The Woodpile," where there's excellent columnar jointing. There may be some of that jointing barely visible on the ridgeline of the most prominent hill in this shot, but I'm not sure. As noted in the description of the previous photo in this series, I'm at a loss as to why I didn't photograph the really photogenic sill exposure farther up the road. Maybe I had my nose buried in the road log or the bedrock map.
On view here are beds of either the Shutup Conglomerate or underlying Lower Paleozoic sedimentary beds.

So, after seeing and apocolyse-centric episode of TG USA (shutup, it's much better nowadays), I was inspired to do this. So here we have a rougher, tougher Rogue 4x4 Titan ready for the world's end.
Location, location, location. This choice real estate opportunity and Trans-Pecos celebrity venue offers it all: architectural distinction coupled with an elegant simplicity of lifestyle. What's not to love?
Actually, this property, now part of the Texas park system, isn't for sale. Here I'm facing southeast, in the ghost town (or, more accurately, ghost mini-homestead) of Tres Papalotes. It's located on the eastern side of the Solitario's interior, along the Lefthand Shutup road about 1 mi (1`.6 km) south-southwest of the water gap cited in earlier photos of this series. Despite its minimal impact on urban civilization, it is a listed locality on Google Earth.
This non-town's lovely Spanish name translates as "Three Windmills"—but by the time I got there, only one, lacking its blades, remained. Its upper portion is visible above the shack's corrugated-metal roof.
Behind that windpump pylon is a low rocky spine exposing the Mississippian-Pennsylvanian (Carboniferous) Tesnus Formation. And beyond that, a higher ridgeline topped by very notably folded beds of the Devonian Caballos Novaculite.
