Cool textures - looks like brains

This is not my kitten, but one who came by to visit yesterday at my office.

How do you get some 12 foot, four inch long boards into a "12 foot" trailer whose inside dimension is less than 12 feet in length? By adding some 2x4 crossmembers and loading the boards diagonally. I used clamps to hold them together, effectively making a laminated timber. (We filled the rest of the trailer later.)
