The sun does not reach this part of the Prättigau valley, which is on the way to my hometown Schuders in the Swiss Alps. The temperature is usually below freezing point. I followed a dirt road that led m to a target shooting range.
I processed a paintery and a soft HDR photo from three RAW exposures, blended them selectively, and carefully adjusted the color balance and curves. I welcome and appreciate constructive comments.

7.62 x 54mm calibre Dragunov SVD Sniper Rifle
Sniper Shooting Range
Top Gun Prague,
Czech Republic 🇨🇿
After World War 2 and introduction of the Kalashnikov, Russia needed a new sniper rifle. Kalashnikov based design of Evgeniy Dragunov was selected in a design competition.
The new rifle was not designed as sniper rifle, but as an accurate rifle for ranges up to 400 metres. Such a rifle was needed while the Russian service rifle, the AK-47, has an effective range of around 100-200 metres.
The new rifle, called SVD, initially stood for ‘Semipolarnya Vintovka Dragunova’, Russian for ‘Dragunov semi-automatic rifle’.
When it was discovered that the SVD could also be used as a sniper rifle the name ‘Snayperskaya Vintovka Dragunova’, Russian for ‘Dragunov sniper rifle’ was adopted.
The SVD is better known as ‘the Dragunov’.

Here you can see with your own eyes that all shots were missed! Shots were not even close. All targets are safe and sound. An example of a surreal reality. What a fun!

Eley VIP 12 Gauge trap cartridges, size 7 24 gram. A brilliant cartridge, fast and capable, one of my favourites.
The Mars-like barren land at the foothills of the Bakony make for a perfect military shooting range.
In the vicinity of Veszprém, the locals are well used to the roar of attack helicopters and harsh sounds of gunfire. Every year other NATO countries' armed forces also come to practice here together, but this morning the only hearable "noise exposure" came from a different source.

Perseid meteor shower 2015 - this is the only image in which I manage to capture a (small) shooting star out of 30 exposures. The photo was taken at Cape Pyla firing range in Cyprus.
Kristy breaking open her Miroku 12 gauge shotgun during a DTL practice session. A very good shot, who drops very few targets. She is lovely.
This is a place where the army use to test their weapons and amunitions, so sometimes it´s a prohibited area. It sure is a spooky place....very strange mood there.

This weekend, while visiting my dad's family in Springfield, we had the chance to go to a shooting range in the area. It was my first time shooting both a rifle and a pistol and all told, I shot 6(!) different types of guns. My dad and uncle were both great teachers and seemed pretty impressed with my sister and my sharp-shootin' skills. In the end it was a good experience, but something I will probably not make a hobby of or do again any time soon. Anyway, I sneaked into the bathroom for this shot before we left, while I still felt so badass.
