The old gate at the bottom of the steps (the steps leads up to a park just outside the Prince Park hotel) is Somon (惣門), built in the early Edo period and once leading to a mausoleum for the second Edo shogun, Tokugawa Hidetada (徳川 秀忠) who died in 1632. The mausoleum itself has not survived.
Bonus for the sharp-eyed: as you can see it has just rained and in the gate a man has taken shelter, fiddling with his phone (Tokyo really is a mixture of history and modernity).
The Shogun is the second highest authority within the Empire, answering only to the Empress and may make decisions in the name of the Empress and Empire without consultation of the Empress. The Shogun is the leader of the Imperial Army and tasked with the safety of the Empire, its people, lands, and borders. In the absence of one of the other members of the Imperial Court, the Empress may fulfill all duties as needed.

Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden is a large park with an eminent garden in Shinjuku and Shibuya, Tokyo, Japan. It was originally a residence of the Naitō family in the Edo period. Afterwards, it became a garden under the management of the Imperial Household Agency of Japan. It is now a park under the jurisdiction of the national Ministry of the Environment.
The shogun bequeathed this land to Lord Naitō (daimyo) of Tsuruga in the Edo period who completed a garden here in 1772. After the Meiji Restoration the house and its grounds were converted into an experimental agricultural centre. It then because a botanical garden before becoming an imperial garden in 1879. The current configuration of the garden was completed in 1906. Most of the garden was destroyed by air raids in 1945, during the later stages of World War II. The garden was rebuilt after the war.
The jurisdiction over the Imperial Palace Outer Garden and the Kyoto imperial garden was transferred to the Ministry of Health and Welfare (now part of the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare) in 1947.
On May 21, 1949 the garden became open to the public as "National Park Shinjuku Imperial Gardens". It came under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of the Environment in January 2001 with the official name "Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden".

Was parked in a Mitsubishi Showroom! I wonder how many miles this has as it looks in amazing condition! (plates came of a 2014 shogun so can't find any information about it)
Vintage board game
This game plays on a 8×8 grid, with each player having 7 pawns and 1 King, which start lined up on opposite sides of the board. Each player can remove the other's pieces by moving onto them, as in chess.
But what sets this game apart is that there is a window on each piece, which shows a number indicating the number of moves that piece can make. And due to the working of many magnets under the board, the number automatically changes depending on which space the pawn or king is on.
Each of the pawns responds differently on the board. After several games the board can be rotated to keep the players guessing.
This place is called "Chidorigafuchi". It is one of moats which surrounded Edo Castle(Edo-jo). The Tokugawa government was established in this castle from 1603 to 1868. Shogun who was the head of the government lived in this castle. He governed Japan for a long time. Maybe Shogun also walked around moats and saw the landscape there. Now this place is open for citizens. It is one of the famous places with cherry blossoms in Tokyo. This night many people visited there and saw cherry blossoms around this moat.
This picture was taken with ISO1600. I knew that it isn't appropriate sensitivity. Because this place was crowded with visitors awfully, I can't stabilize the camera enough, even though I used a tripod. Therefor regretfully, I couldn't avoid the noise in the image.
Before Ninjago there was a samurai castle theme called Ninja in the 1990s.
I only had two small sets from that theme #6013 and #3018, but still feel nostalgic whenever I see some of these old sets and minifigs.
Maybe I’ll also build something from that theme, the Summer Joust would be a great opportunity.
Hope you like these three minifigs.
I created some more minifigs fitting that old Samurai theme but these were the best and I don’t have enough of these cool looking custom katanas yet.

A crowd favorite. The shogun is a racer taking part in the Meteor League races. It appeared one day on the track and started to win one race after another. No body ever saw its pilot's face nor its internal specs. The only hint is an old japanese flag on its tail fin...
