My photostream seems to be going to the dogs lately. Sorry, I'm just having too much fun "shooting" these guys. This is Pip... he'll soon be 7 months old. He's a bit more difficult to photograph -- either sleeping or moving at the speed of light! I managed to catch him real quick in the transition zone.
We adopted Sam and Pip in early July, about a month after we lost 13 year old Frodo to cancer. I took this photo in September to make a get well card for my wife who was in the hospital at the time. She ended up spending most of the month of September there with 3 surgeries. It's been a long haul but she's slowly recovering at home now. Which explains why I've been away from Flickr for so long.
At the time this photo was taken, Sam (on the left) was almost 8 months and Pip, almost 5 months old. Sam is a Schnoodle (Schnauzer/Poodle mix), Pip is a Shih-Poo (Shih-Tzu/Poode mix). All 3 of our pups have the same father but 3 different mothers.
Sam is my designated camping/canoeing dog. He really enjoys taking long walks with me, is quiet, laid-back, loyal.
Pip is a lot more energetic and very mischievious. When we went to pick up Rosie in October, Pip ran off and disappeared into an 80 acre cornfield. I spent 6 long, agonizing days searching for him, very afraid that we'd lost him for good. I did manage to find him at the end of the 6th day though. Cold, hungry, a bit lighter but none the worse for wear. It was a great relief to find him and bring him home.
...and from the smell of her, Nala's first bath EVER.
We met up with the lady selling the puppy in a parking lot. I'm guessing from her bad aroma, slovenly dress and filthy car (interior), that I would've refused to buy the puppy if we went to her house...
She said that Nala had been bathed the day before, but she sure didn't smell like it. Regardless, Keira cuddled with Nala the whole (almost) three hours back to Roanoke...
One bath wasn't quite enough. We'll give her another today...
Anyway, regardless of her seemingly less-than-humble beginnings, she seems like a very sweet pup and we welcome her into our family!

Jack knows the rules of the game - if he gets his toys inside the tent they are off limits for us. Still he has a watchful eye on me to make sure I don't steal his ball.
Just handed off Mr. E to his wonderful Grandma and Grandpa, then proceeded to cry the whole way bag to Chicago. Pregnancy hormones. LA Bound.

missbachman: I am so excited for you!!!!! 👶💓
Some yummy treats - a few bucks.
Having dedicated beds and snuggle areas all over the place - a few hundred dollars.
Sleeping on the floor - priceless.
P.S. We do not neglect Jack nor his hygiene - crumbs are there from eating his food which must have been what tired him out so much...

Playing with Mom - usually she says "no bite!" ...I'm not really sure what that means but I'm pretty sure it's something about our game
Nana doesn't mind if Nala gets on her chair - as long as Nala doesn't lick her...
Nala likes to get up on Nana's chair when the electric blanket is plugged in...
Nala's full name is Nala Kari. A few days ago, Keira and I were discussing the puppy's middle name. (Nala is from the movie, Lion King. A bit ambitious for such a tiny puppy...)
Keira wanted something "snappy". We tossed around "Mari" because it went so naturally with Nala (and it sounded like calamari). I suggest that she switch it to Kari to pull in the "K" from Keira. The resulting "Nala Kari" sound like a dyslexic version of "calamari". As such, I've already given the puppy a nickname of "Little Squid". (And it looks like she's been "inked"...)
Okay, okay. The reflections from the flash make her look as gray as I do. Nevertheless, she's almost solid black...
Keira's been begging for a puppy for a couple of years. Kel and I finally gave in...
Yesterday, Keira and I drove down to Tennessee, just past Bristol, to pick up her new puppy. With the stops, almost a six hour round trip.
Nala is a cross between a shit-tzu and a poodle, commonly known as a shih-poo. (Although I prefer shihtty-poop...) She's about five pounds and will probably get up to 9 or 10 pounds. (Both of her parents are under 10 pounds.)
Keira is SO excited. Saturday night, she stayed up late so she could sleep late - I told her we weren't going to leave any earlier than 10 a.m. (I had a homebrew club meeting on Saturday...)
