No photocamera. Subjects were arranged directly on scanner glass and scanned open.
the recent gift of a black-tailed deer skull got me thinking about the various nature ephemera i have accumulated around the house over the years. it was fun to bring some of the bigger bits out on the table and have a look at things.
for an idea of scale, the largest moon snail shell is 5" across.
Sally sells sea shells down by the sea shore ... and I can not wait to get to the beach again! Why must vacation only come but once a year? I swear that one day I will at least have a winter home by the beach to escape from the mountain cold.

I was asked back the the Long Beach Aquarium of the Pacific for another of their Photo Nights.
In addition to presenting the "Getting Started" show, I was asked to do a Hands-on CLS class.
I thought it would be fun to have a couple of the flash stations be themed more towards the Aquarium.

I used the black shelf liner to highlight the shells without throwing any color cast.

Piles and piles of Atlantic slippersnail shells (Crepidula fornicata) . The slipper snail or its shell is also referred to as a boat shell, quarterdeck shell, fornicating slipper snail, Atlantic slipper limpet or common slipper limpet. I have never seen so many in one place as on this beach at Tod,s Point in Greenwich, Connecticut - USA

Front Street, Issaquah, Washington. The city has restored the original Shell Station and transformed it into the visitor's bureau. It's what greets a visitor coming into Issaquah on the main street, Front Street.
Much of downtown Issaquah looks like an early to mid 20th century western mining town. There's a saloon like feel to some of the buildings.
I live a couple blocks from here.
