This Sea Shell Butterfly is part of a larger very beautiful sea shell creation done by Lionel Comeau of Petit-Rocher, NB These creations were on display at the headquarters for the Acadian Seniors Games that were held this weekend. Congrats to my wife Lynda who won a silver medal in Bowling.

This pair of shells are over a 100 years old. You can still hear the sea if you hold them against your ear.

At a 120 feet in height Shell falls sends the water of Shell Creek tumbling over 2.9 billion year old Precambrian basement rocks into a narrow chasm that makes up the inner canyon. These basement rocks are some of the oldest rocks earth. The falls is located about midway down Shell Canyon in the Wyoming's Bighorn Mountains.

I confess I did bring home just a couple of shells - these are so tiny (the yellow one is about the size of my little finger nail) that they would have been lost in one of my usual beach shots, so I brought them home to capture. Markings are so pretty.

I *may* have also found an abalone (my first whole one ever!)

All this construction around my house is driving me insane. Its a good thing my wife just got a Jeep because my regular car would have fallen apart by now with all the holes and sand bumps in the area. Have you guys seen the extremely deep hole in the street between Starbucks and Sbarro in front of Fanar? I had trouble passing it even with the Jeep! Hopefully all the construction will end soon and they repave the streets. Near my house there are a whole bunch of Shell barrels filled with diesel fuel for the trucks. I really like the Shell logo and colors, its simple and memorable.
