Chinese shellfish fisherman in the Bohai Sea near Laolongtou (Dragon's Head) , China which is the most eastern beginning of the Great Wall of China.

 

A man stands alone above tanks of crabs that have just been delivered to a processing factory in the seaport. The image portrays the drama of a man in his tough occupation. The expression on his face renders the commitment of a lifetime to feed the community with the crustacean animals from the nearby seabed. A beam of sunlight reveals the man. He is stood in an up right position slightly to the right of the centre, his head parallel to portholes of light that cross the image. The looming presence of the already captured shellfish is pictured through the bubbles on the water’s surface of the tanks.

Shellfish harvesters on the mudflats at Rudong, China. Besides being important to human livelihoods these mudflats are the last remaining place in the Yellow Sea where the critically endangered Spoon-billed Sandpiper stops on migration. The mudflats are being quickly lost to development.

The way it is in Chile: There's mussels, clams, bits of pork sausage, bits of pork loin, salmon chunks, some huge shelled sea creature called 'Picorocos'. What the hell if the flavors don't pair up. These guys will all be swimming in simmering white wine for two hours, so how can you go wrong?
