Lokan, a type of shellfish in Sabah. It was grilled with some garlics, and dipped with local chili sauce. Somewhere along the way to Shangri La's Rasa Ria Resort in Tuaran, the same place where the 'kelapa bakar' can be found.
Our third and last "second" course:
MEDITERRANEAN SHELLFISH BISQUE
dungeness crab, leek soubise, lemon oil
There was a hint of the lemon oil—Steve thought it was clementine juice—but it needed more acid. The soup had a lot of shellfish flavor and a little too much salt.
The beach was riddled with the dead husks of crabs, obviously the remains from a more seasonal and primal Father's Day buffet. Along this stretch, they were mostly whole, but further along the beach, the rocks were covered in a fine dusting of carapaces that had been smashed repeatedly against the shore.
I was at the same beach two days running (well i was in cornwall) and saw these rocks.
I cant decide which (if any ) look better so im posting a colour one and a different black and white rock in avain attempt to catch up
Orecchiette pasta with chopped Italian parsley, grated Romano cheese, grilled corn kernels, roasted tomato sauce and shucked butter clams
after heating up the shellfish, and extracting the insides the remains form huge pile to be baked down later; the egrets gather to pick over the remnains
