‘These paintings are self-portraits as paintings. I used to drink a lot and these are some of the things I think about and drank about. It’s part of an A to Z of drinking. These paintings are a chemical concoction like the cocktails we prescribe ourselves to self medicate.
I lived in Richmond through art school and many years beyond. I worked at the Great Britain Hotel during its halcyon days as a music venue in the early 90s whilst I was a resident at 200 Gertrude St Artist Space (now Gertrude Contemporary).
I was co-founder and co-ran Hell Gallery in Richmond from 2007-10 and am represented by Daine Singer Gallery in Fitzroy - rear 90 Moor St.’
