My daughters and I have had fun posing the Cicada shells for different shots. The 2 of them are very inspiring and are a boost of creativity.

Statue coated with shells in the Residenz museum. Like other items in the museum, this was reconstructed after the destruction of the museum during World War II.

Shells still have life even thought the living being left it.

Hours are spent looking for these on summer holidays. First with my parents, now with my children.

 

Some of the shells are happy, some sad and most look like finger prints.

And for completeness, a close-up of the most recognisable landmark in my home town, the Sydney Opera House. It's difficult getting a shot like this without tourists all over the place. I was lucky to get a gap big enough to take this.

 

The shells are so white, it's impossible to capture them gleaming in the sun without underexposing everything else.

The beaches around Yantai are often crowded with locals and tourists alike in the summer months, Im not sure why as all the beaches that I have seen are either covered with sharp broken shells and or pollution, not to mention the danger of the polluted ocean itself
