This is a design I worked up for a Jib Sheet Pig-tail to eliminate the need for a shackle. Using a 3/8" dia alum rod with two holes and 1/8" dyneema line I can connect this to the Jib Clew quick and easy. It's a light weight and strong connection.
A pressed sheet metal pre-Worboys direction sign in the hamlet of Coleford, Devon.
This sign is one of four similar direction signs for the crossroads in the centre of the hamlet. See www.flickr.com/photos/61719529@N07/12565317714/ , www.flickr.com/photos/61719529@N07/12521535373/ and www.flickr.com/photos/61719529@N07/12521535543/ for views of the other three similar signs.

Lime green and music are two of my favorite things! Together, in this polka dot crazy design, I think they work well. The sheet music is taken from an ancient collection of violin caprices. I bought them at my college music library for 25 cents. I went absolutely crazy buying sheet music to use for projects like these. I'm currently looking for other ways to creatively use this vintage sheet music.

Any number of methods might have been used to secure the sheet. On my Esquif Presage, I tie to a seat bracket, go through the block on the boom and then to a block on the opposite seat support. I could have used a lashing, but decided instead to drill holes in the thwarts. The initial hole is small, since it holds a static line, but the second one is oversized and smoothed to make it act as a dumb sheave, thus saving the expense of a block. (Since writing that I have decided to add a block as it does not run as freely as I would like, and I'm thinking that reluctant easing of the sheet is a recipe for getting dumped, unnecessarily, in a gust).
Art installation in Rhyolite, Nevada, an abandoned mining town. The artist, Albert Szukalski, wrapped models in plaster-covered fabric.
As Wendy and I purge our books we are looking for ways to keep our
bookshelves relatively clean in the future. I decided to try out a
kindle as the new models are particularly inexpensive and have
excellent PDF file support. Most of the documents I read are spec
sheets for electrical components, magazines, or ebooks which kind of
suck to read while sitting at a desk. I'm impressed with the Kindle's
screen quality, battery life, weight and thickness. I'm totally
disappointed with the user interface. The buttons are in the wrong
place, the screen requires manual toggling from portrait to landscape,
and the movement keys are way too small. Now that I've loaded up 100
documents on the kindle I'm looking forward to going on a road trip
and seeing how much I actually read on it.
