In Lønstrup, the country's greatest plantation of hawthorne stretches on all sides of the village. And in the village, to be true.

Tiny to big bushes, up to 1,80 metres high - and lots, lots and lots of berries.

Unfortunately the bush holds seriously on to its fruit... the thorns are from next to nothing to an inch long, they are everywhere (and sharp... I still have a tiny one stuck in my thumb from last years endeavours...) and the berries themselves are CLINGING violently to the branches - the trick is to clip off twigs, freeze them and then take of the berries. In the recipebooks, you can read, the berries are to be be 'shaken' off the twigs after freezing. This is, however, not true. :-( But they come off the branch a LITTLE easier after freezing than when you're trying to get them off the bush in natura.

Seriously tedious work, very cold and very stingy, lots of swearing at the plant going on - but the jam, I've made, is exceptionally good. Apples, hawthorne and vanilla. Tried it on white youghurt this morning and am most happy!

Tair 11A 135mm f3.5 -

This shot was taken early in the morning on Thanksgiving Day (2011), it was cloudy and cold, the best time for photographing flowers. I used a tripod and delayed (3 sec) remote shooting to reduce vibration. I took shots wide open and closed (to the workable aperture) without causing refraction. The main purpose was to compare the 135mm f3.5, Russian, and German lenses. However, I threw in here couple of SMC Takumars and a Fujinon. I hope you can leave a comment on which one seems sharpest, best colors, etc. Thank you, and please leave your comment. Feel free to check the other shots to compare.
