Peale's Falcon: When all the pigeons took flight, I looked up and saw this bird. From the back it looked like a slate colored crow, but flew differently. After it landed in this tree I took its picture and noticed the green band on its right leg.

This is for a Gizmodo photo competition. Subject was Sharp.

Trouble is our little black cat, seen in the foreground.

Can anyone definitively ID this bird? Coopers Hawk, Sharp Shinned Hawk? No matter what species he/she is, what an absolutely intimidating face they have!

Was more than a bit surprised when this bird landed in my backyard. I was fortunate enough to have my camera sitting close by and was able to capture a shot or two before he/she flew off.

Sharp-tailed Sandpiper

This looks like an adult in molt but has retained some chevrons in the flanks. Pectoral do not have chevrons of any kind. It's plumper than a Pec, shows a fairly strong eyering and dark cap.

Tertials are about the same length as primaries

This bird was softly streaked in the breast but it took off into the marsh at Danzenbaker corner Brig before I could get any more pics
