What is our hero expected to do here, and why?

This hotel seems to provide a more relaxed atmosphere to tourists and vacationers who can burn a little more buck for a little more relaxed breathing space. Compare this to the three previous shots.

Hawaii has hundreds of hotels/resorts catering to thousands of visitors/tourists at the same time. These hotels need to satisfy those customers looking for great locations for cheaper prices. Such places provide instant gratification for millions of people who now have a chance to enjoy various destinations (for example Hawaii in this case) without making a hole in their pockets.

In checking the layout for the diversion I noticed the awful state of the road surface. It might be affected by the same subsidence that has affected the Chocolate Path, but some of the cracks and holes need temporary repair before someone on two wheels comes a cropper.

There is some useful segregation here, achieved with a long mound of paint and a curb.
