1950s apron pattern, perfect condition

spring sewing project #1 = done! this is megan nielsen’s darling ranges dress in anna maria horner’s loulouthi voile (yes, two wonderful and inspiring women combined in one dress!!). i just love everything about this the dress – the waistline, the buttons, the pockets…!! oh, and i love the way the voile flows! and the little pattern booklet is so cute! i just shortened the length of the sleeves and skipped the elastic. wearing this dress certainly puts me in a very very happy mood!!

WE wear short shorts!

 

I love all these different looks and the cool shoes and boots.

Simplicity 2062; ©1957; Misses' Blouse: All views have front scoop necklines and button-front closings. V. 1 has band detail at neck and at short set-in sleeve edges. V. 2, sleeveless blouse, has contrasting band detail at neck and armhole edges. V. 3 has short set-in sleeves and a large contrasting collar trimmed with lace. Ribbon bow trims center neck edge. V. 4, sleeveless blouse, has large self collar that is detailed with top stitching.

Simplicity 5060; ca. early 1960s; Teens' and Juniors' Jumper or Dress: "Simple to Sew". (Including How-To Tissue Chart on Setting in a Slot Zipper.) Sleeveless jumper or shift dress has a lowered round neckline and back zipper closing. V. 1 features a lowered waistline; a purchased belt is slipped through 4 self-fabric belt carriers, each trimmed with 2 buttons. V. 2 has a purchased belt.

Simplicity 1612; ca. 1946; TEEN AGE BATHING SUIT AND BEACH COAT: The bra top is gathered at the sides and the center front is softly crushed with a tie. Shoulder straps cross and button in the back. There are gathers at the side of trunks in front and soft pleats at lower sides and back. An elastic is inserted at center front to achieve a shirred effect and ribbon is drawn through eyelets in the bands at sides of trunks. The beach coat, styled with soft gathers released from a forward shoulder seam, features a standing collar, side openings, bishop sleeves and patch pockets.

Simplicity 5016; ©1972; Misses' Tunic and Pants: The pants with back zipper have elastic waistline casing. The tunic with front slit at high round neckline has back zipper, set-in sleeves and may be worn with self fabric tie belt. V. 1 & 2 have short sleeves. V. 1 features contrasting "dog ear" collar and cuffs. V. 2 with "stand-up" collar has button or frog trim. Collarless V. 3 has long sleeves.

It was a bit of a treasure hunt looking for things that are white and worn/weathered, but then I remembered my sewing notions, most of which are lovingly worn and still usable. Indeed, my older patterns are the most treasured, and my chalks get chipped no matter how much I coddle them.

Cut & Complete!

 

Pullover dress, cut in four lengths, has sleeves sewn to drop-shoulder armholes. Neck and hooked front opening are faced, except when bound with fold-over braid. Long dress has frog front closing or braid trimming. Regular length dress, cut in all fabrics, or shorter length dress, cut only from panel print, are worn with faced tie belt. Regular length dress is braid trimmed. Shortest dress, cut only from eyelet fabric, is braid trimmed.

I'm quite pleased with this one. Patterning a shoe was a nightmare for me as I am geometrically-challenged, but it got figured out and I learned some great tricks along the way.

Love this coat pattern. Size is tiny, no hope of it being used!
