Unfortunately the couple didn't get any offspring this year.
The female was still hatching her two eggs at the end of June although a mink had visited the nesting isle several times. I saw it swimming to the isle four times. Presumably the mink finally won. Also a nest of the Whooper Swans and several nests of the Common Gulls were destroyed on the isle.
Now I'm heading to a hardware store to buy more traps for the minks. I will not give up.

1999 Miata. It spends six to seven months each year in storage. I got it out today for a seventy degree top down run home.
The Seven Sisters chalk cliffs form a well known landscape feature of the East Sussex coast. One of the 'sisters' is nearly completely obscured from this angle taken from above Cuckmere Haven.
Another photo from 2008 brought forward while I wallow in my Flickr archives - it's -38C with the wind chill at Keefer Lake right now (but I just put another log on the fire and poured myself a single malt).

The 'Seven Sisters' are rarely seen in clear weather as in this photo ... typically they are shrouded in rain clouds but they are always beautiful regardless of the weather. This set of peaks are in my 'home region' in British Columbia's coastal range. In a "you couldn't make this stuff up" kind of way ... there is a set of equally spectacular peaks that can be seen from my Mother's birthplace in Norway that are also named the 'Seven Sisters' ... 'Syv Søstre.'

Big seven is a rather risky reggae song from my youth by Judge Dread. This shot has nothing to do with that , but I loved the scales of justice idea with this balancing of pebbles in fishing nets. This gives a better sense of scale than the other shot I posted.
Renowned Swiss artist Ugo Rondinone’s colorful large-scale, public artwork Seven Magic Mountains is an exhibition located in the desert outside of Las Vegas in Ivanpah Valley, Nevada, featuring seven, 30 to 35-feet high dayglow totems comprised of painted, locally-sourced boulders. The totems were inspired by the hoodoo's in the western US.
