My sweet dog Spike
The English Setter is a medium-sized sporting dog of sweet temper and show-stopping good looks. It is one of the AKC's four British setters created to work on the distinctly different terrains of England, Ireland, and Scotland.
Sporting Group: The Gordon Setter, the black avenger of the Highlands, is a substantial bird dog named for a Scottish aristocrat. Athletic and outdoorsy, Gordons are bold, confident, and resolute in the field, and sweetly affectionate by the fireside. Gordons are the largest and most substantial of setters
One of my favourite Francie outfits of all time is 'Style Setters' from 1966/67. I was fortunate enough to get an almost minty example of it recently, even with the HTF blue shoes, and was inspired by the way it was shown (without the fab floral lined velvet cape and hood) in the TV ad for Francie's outfits, where they say: 'And stockings... like WILD!' hehe.
The model is my brunette 1967 TNT Francie (She was VERY TLC when I got her - all for $5!! - and I have been neglecting her lately, so I think she deserved another moment ... This one is for you Deany, who implored me that I keep her and not replace her with a 'mintier' version! You were right, Deany!) I have the TV ad in colour on DVR but see the fuzzy black & white

As seen at the American Folk Art Museum on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. This dog, made from molded copper by J. W. Fiske Iron Works in 1893, is actually a weathervane. He's featured in the museum's exhibition, "American Weathervanes: The Art of the Winds."
We had a special visitor today. Some friends came along with their six month old Irish Setter pup, Sonny. Having only ever had Greyhounds (and a lurcher) I don't know a lot about Irish Setters but they have the reputation of being beautiful but nuts, so I was expecting some mayhem. In the event he was not like that at all. He did a bit of exploring and made the mistake of trying to join Millie in her bed. Thereafter he was simply very sweet and affectionate and, to be honest, particularly well behaved for a young dog. Fiona and I were both very impressed. He eventually settled down and I was able to take some quick snaps of which this is the one I like best. The first part of my preconception was correct - he is beautiful.
