Another round of photos from my vacation in March 2011 to the Azores.

This is the Sete Cidades caldera lake. It is a very big caldera, and actually contains two lakes separated by a narrow channel. These lakes are supposed to be different colors (blue and green), although unfortunately on the day we were there it was too cloudy to see much color in the water. We did, however, hike part way around the rim (this photo and this photo were taken during that hike). It was quite a nice hike, even with the clouds - a couple more shots in the comments.

Looks much better in lightbox - hit 'L'!

A Lanzada (Sanxenxo)

A 2012 view at Sète on a lovely summer’s evening highlights three vessels.

In the foreground we have ‘Mekhanik Sazonov’, a 2011 built Russian chemical tanker.

Behind are two ferries once operated by the Moroccan operator Comanav which went bankrupt during the year. The one nearest is ‘Bni Nsar’ , a 1972-built vessel constructed in Japan, and sold for scrap in 2014. Out to the right is ‘Marrakech’, a 1986 vessel, which was last noted laid up at Casablanca.
