emulsion for the background - it was quite a feat to paint the middle areas because one had to stretch from the edge, with the canvas not backed up by anything underneath save for its wooden frame and the occasional middle beam somewhere. ready mixed paint and a sponge - cleverly cut into the right shape by ms bishop - for the bricks. she and ms buchanan mixed the paints (emulsion is golden brown+white+black; bricks were red+light brown+dark brown) and i was quite amazed at how the colors were so accurate and realistic.
at around 5pm i was told i could go home, i didn't have to stay and help. for some reason, i just wanted to at least finish this brick wall. i would quite like to see the production, and see all the gigantic panels we all drew and painted on being used on stage.
ms doonar comes up to me just as i finish stamping on the last brick and says, "did you want me to take a picture for your portfolio?" i didn't quite understand her at first, and started explaining that the reason why i had my camera with me was because of this project. then she said that having a photo of this would be good for my portfolio if i were to go into art at university level.
and then just like how God lay my part-time job in my lap:
"adrienne would you like to go to summer school in wimbledon?"
i can't remember if ms buchanan mentioned any details about the summer school programme because i got lost in my own thoughts on how everything seemed to be just coming to me. a few months ago, when chances of getting enrolled into a school a month late seemed bleak, i had considered getting a job first. then i considered doing an art foundation course at the Wimbledon College of Art (my international student / diplomatic status made it complicated).
so this is abundance.
i knew He wanted me to finish that brick wall.

Here are the results of the workshop with setdesign-students in berlin, 2009. In a limited time, problems of digital communication should be made physical.
I experimented with complete tone control with this set and it turned out absolutely beautiful. Production Designer Travis Nichoals Zariwny
