As of the census[3] of 2000, there are 273,546 people, 91,382 households, and 61,956 families residing in Newark; recent census projections show that the population has already increased to around 280,000. The population density was 11,400/mile² (4,400/km²), or 21,000/mile² (8,100 km²) once airport, railroad, and seaport lands are excluded, the second-highest in the nation of any city with over 250,000 residents (after New York City).
The racial makeup of the city was 53.46% Black or African American, 26.52% White, 1.19% Asian, 0.37% Native American, 0.05% Pacific Islander, 14.05% from other races, and 4.36% from two or more races. 29.47% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race. There is a significant Portuguese-speaking community, made up of Brazilian and Portuguese ethnicities, concentrated mainly at the Ironbound district.
There were 91,382 households out of which 35.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 31.0% were married couples living together, 29.3% had a female householder with no husband present, and 32.2% were non-families. 26.6% of all households were made up of individuals and 8.8% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.85 and the average family size was 3.43.
In the city the population was spread out with 27.9% under the age of 18, 12.1% from 18 to 24, 32.0% from 25 to 44, 18.7% from 45 to 64, and 9.3% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 31 years. For every 100 females, there were 94.2 males. For every 100 females of age 18 and over, there were 91.1 males.
Crime
In 1996, TIME Magazine ranked Newark "The Most Dangerous City in the Nation."[35] By 2007, however, the city recorded a total of 99 homicides for the year, representing a significant drop from the record of 161 murders set in 1981.[36][37][38][39] The number of murders in 2008 dropped to 65, a decline of 30% from the previous year and the lowest in the city since 2002 when there was also 65 murders.[40]
In the 2006 survey, Newark was ranked as the 22nd most dangerous city in the United States, out of 371 cities included nationwide in the 13th annual Morgan Quitno survey.[41] In the 2007 rankings, now performed by CQ Press, Newark was the 20th most dangerous city in America of 378 cities surveyed.[42]
It was freezing outside in New York on a bright and sunny Saturday morning but the set dosa breakfast which the wife prepared was so heart warming that nothing comes close.

This beautiful set reflects the winds and turns of the Verde River.
Made of hand twisted and forged 14 gauge copper wire. The greenish turquoise medallion it the closure for the bracelet. Easy open and close. The ring is a size 6 1/2" to 7.
The oldest set. Some of the furniture is the original from when it was Albert Tatlock's house in the early 60s

Maddie, Abigail and Jeanne on set for their movie. Do they look like they're in the 1950's?? The movie is a documentary about racism and healing and is being produced by Nancy Dorr.
Found the cutest little Stabilo marker set at the art supply store today. Love the tidy little case (clear cover not pictured). Best of all, medium fine points good for cross hatching. I hope they all last awhile, because I doubt these little beauties are sold as open stock.
Blackpool twin cars were a somewhat unsuccessful attempt to increase the passenger/ crew ratio of the fleet. 272 was rebuilt in 1960 from the 1935 second series English Electric railcoach of the same number, in a style resembling that of the post war Coronation cars. The trailer T2 was one of ten new cars built by Metropolitan Cammel-Weyman on Maley & Taunton trucks. Operationally awkward cars they were somewhat sidelined even after all but two became double ended permanently coupled units and only saw extensive use during the illuminations season although they replaced double deckers on the Fleetwood summer service when the deplorable track north of Cleveleys became unsafe for Balloons to operate. 272/T2 is seen in their original livery
Irish set dancing is my other main pastime. I took this photo at a weekend of workshops and ceili's in the Hampshire countryside - Setsmad - some friends of mine bring tutors and musicians over from Ireland to the village of Cliddesden near Basingstoke for a weekend of dancing.

While travelling along the Pacific Highway, the new NSW D-set interurban passed us on a trail run heading from Ourimbah to Lisarow and obviously onto Gosford.
I can no longer find the website these came from. It would be great to have one of these painted canvases, but not everyone has enough room for artwork 18 feet high and 42 feet wide. But you could cut out a section for an amazing feature wall.
This shoot was done entirely with hotlights/construction lights and available light. The day of the shoot quite a bit of shit went awry. Assistants bailed on me, I lost access to a strobe and my personal strobe has it's bulb busted.
This was a big shoot for me so I was in pure anxiety attack mode. After some self-elaboration and McGyver-ing, I put together the set of our shoot, and purchased a ton of construction lights and 75 watt light bulbs, made home-made scrims and screens and clamped an entire light setup for this shoot which took about 5 hours to complete.
I never thought I'd make an animated fractal, but here we are.
This is but a small glimpse of the vast and wondrous landscape of the Julia set, named after the French mathematician Gaston Julia and closely related to the famous Mandelbrot set.
Julia also happens to be the name of our new 'surprise' Prime Minister, who after her brief honeymoon period is now starting to reveal a few more colours and shades besides those of her famous red hair (though not all of them are as pretty).
I created this using the free software ChaosPro 4. Very nifty, although its animation component could be improved!
