Blackpool twin cars were a somewhat unsuccessful attempt to increase the passenger/ crew ratio of the fleet. 272 was rebuilt in 1960 from the 1935 second series English Electric railcoach of the same number, in a style resembling that of the post war Coronation cars. The trailer T2 was one of ten new cars built by Metropolitan Cammel-Weyman on Maley & Taunton trucks. Operationally awkward cars they were somewhat sidelined even after all but two became double ended permanently coupled units and only saw extensive use during the illuminations season although they replaced double deckers on the Fleetwood summer service when the deplorable track north of Cleveleys became unsafe for Balloons to operate. 272/T2 is seen in their original livery

Ho ripreso dalle fasi degli allestimenti, sino al giorno finale in cui venivano smontati il mercatino e le apparecchiature. Durante il giorno della ripresa, su gentile richiesta dei responsabili della sicurezza, non ho scattato foto mentre venivano girate le scene. Anche se trovo tutto questo assurdo e paranoico (Che male c'è a documentare un momento storico come questo della vita cittadina? Che disturbo arreco alla loro produzione scattando qualche foto con vecchie macchine a pellicola?) devo dire che il personale addetto ha chiesto con molta gentilezza ed educazione di non scattare foto, cosa a cui mi sono attenuto.
I drove out into the country and worked my way over to this wind turbine. I was able to walk up to it and shoot this shot. The linemen were working on putting this tower "on line". This tower is part of a large "wind farm" which, when done, will have more than 400 turbines. Each tower is over 250 feet tall and the blades are 90 feet long. I used my zoom lens to get this macro of the hub.

Bhulbhule (3365m) - PK Dairy (3640m) - Pikey Peak II & Pilates Planks (4065m) - Jase Bhanjyang (3550m).
Wonderful blue skies and multiple mountain views as we headed north towards PK Dairy and then up PK / Pikey Peak, where Steffi set the pace with Pilates planks before the descent to Jase Bhanjyang, which would later be bathed in beautiful evening light as the sun set.
PK Dairy and Jase Bhanjyang both provided opportunities to gather information about local families who might need one of Light Education Development (LED)'s solar lights, and to do some distribution and repairs.
But the mountain views won the day.
From our first stop, just outside Bhulbhule, looking east we could see: Shishapangma - Dorje Lhakpa - Chang - Ramdung - Bigphera Go Shar - Numbur - Khatang - Karyolung - Everest - Lhotse - Nuptse - Baruntse - Pethangtse - Thamserku - Kangtega - Drangnag Ri [?] (Peak 49) - Makalu - Chamlang - Mera - Naulekh - Kanchenjunga.
From PK Dairy and the mani wall down at the pass before it more mountains stretched to the west: Gaurishankar - Shishapangma - Langtang Lirung - Paldor (Ganesh Himal) - Sringi Himal - Boudha Himal - Peak 29 (Ngadi Chuli) - Manaslu / Mansiri Himal - Annapurna

Found the cutest little Stabilo marker set at the art supply store today. Love the tidy little case (clear cover not pictured). Best of all, medium fine points good for cross hatching. I hope they all last awhile, because I doubt these little beauties are sold as open stock.
If you had to pick the quintessential Canadian actor, Paul Gross could easily top the list. He made his name playing a Mountie on TV and now, he's put Canada's war experience on film, with all the power of a Hollywood feature. In 1985, Paul made his acting debut - in a small film called 'Turning to Stone.' After which, he landed a role with Canada's bumbling handyman, Red Green. In '94, Paul got the role of Benton Fraser - a straight laced RCMP officer, on 'Due South.' The show was one of the first Canadian series to earn a prime time spot on U-S network television. But instead of moving to Hollywood, Paul stayed in Canada. He did theatre at the Stratford Festival, directed and starred in the film 'Men with Brooms' and was part of the cult-hit 'Slings and Arrows. Then, last fall, the war epic Paul set out to make 10 years ago opened at the Toronto International Film Festival. 'Passchendaele' is a war film about the battle of Passchendaele Ridge - a battle during the first world war that Canadian soldiers were heavily involved in. Paul wrote, directed, co-produced and starred in the film.

I just love sun sets. This was probably one of the better ones all fall. This one with the clouds made for a very dynamic looking picture. The photo could be processed to light up the foreground, but I like the black to off set the yellow and orange of the sun set. This photo was taken in my back yard.
A CNRR C44-9W locomotive heading back to Broadview, IL pulling a small train of 5 cars, after servicing the Carol Stream industrial branch line between Gary and Schmale Rd in Carol Stream, IL Taken in the small cut just feet west of the Schmale Rd crossing along the CNRR Freeport sub mainline.

The Wonders Of The Younger Tour @ Madison Theater on Oct 16th. I was beyond stoked to be able to finally see The Summer Set, I am a HUGE fan of theirs, they are just one of the catchiest bands I have ever listened to. That same day I ran into old friends, and on friend who was doing their sound asked me if I met them yet, I told him no so introduced me to the members of TSS, and after that I interviewed Brian, boy was it a great day! Everythings fine.
Set of pics about the life of my aunt Nel. Many gifts she received during the party she gave when she celebrated her golden marriage. One of them was this embroidery. Some friend for sure thought she needed this comfort. The text. Because ..she so often tried to ..do things as best as she could, in a perfect way...In fact she received at several festivities during her life presents with signals like this from friends. You can not be perfect, my dear...
Also my aunt had a collection of ornamental owls. Symbol of wisdom.

The hair accesory is a matching hair band in turquoise with a tiny pink detail in the center.

The skirt has pink tulle in the inside which gives shape all day long and a tender touch.

A group of variously positioned orange men - pushing, lying down, sitting, leaning, carrying, gesturing, surpised, and so forth.
One half of a 2 piece set, this latest edition is limited to 3 only. This piece is a custom 3" Dunny in the form of my "Observation Drone Mk2", a hybrid vinyl / resin artwork.

Backstory
One of the myriad of upgrades available for the Observation Drones and Clear Vision was the "Sky High" package. For a nominal fee, a lightweight but exceptionally powerful booster/glider package could be attached to a standard unit to enable a better view at short notice. Given their inherent lack of aerodynamics, flights of extended duration and control were nothing more than wishful thinking - but if the subject being studied was one prone to unpredictable skyward vectors, limited fly ...aaaaand glide capability could make all the difference.
All later units were flown remotely, but early units were fully autonomous and launched themselves, at their own discretion, depending on the subject they were observing - but it soon became apparently that their flight patterns were erratic at best and downright unpredictable most of the time. Studies by the Epoch Foundation conclusively proved that even with their exceptionally limited AI, they too were suffering from fractured programming that could only be explained, in this case, as... boredom? It was concluded that only reason the ground-based units had never developed this mutation was that they never had their metaphorical finger on the trigger of 10,000lbs of thrust.
