In honour of World Whale Day.
6 selected shots from a 12 shot sequence of a beautiful breach by a female humpback whale in the Auau Channel between Maui and Lanai.
This sequence was taken by my wife using my D300. Now that we both have good cameras with high frame rates we make a pretty good whale photographic team.

The first few score terms of the Fibonacci sequence lead from the corner of Fillmore and Haight to a temporary gallery called Imaginary Foundation. The store is covered in blackboard paint and chalked equations, which is pretty nifty, but unfortunately the displayed paintings are, well, a bit rubbish. Still, a nice enough random discovery.
I love this sequence! I was in the Galápagos Triatlon... Before the start of the competition, we saw a beautifull lion seal sleeping on that buoy... when it started, the first competitor on the line was passing near the lion seal, and it was so adorable how it was like "who is that?" but then, it saw everyone coming to him, it was like "what the hell is happening around me?" hahaha hope you enjoy this! I think he was scared and finally jump into the water and swim with some of the competitors, because later it just disappeared!

Peter Darke, the Signalman today, getting ready to exchange the token. Does look a bit like he's gonna toss it into the cab:)
Peter is a bit of a celebrity at the moment regarding his *real* qualification as a Vet - see this Free Press article for details. Congratulations !
A first hack with the D7000 and glidetrack around home. Flying blind ito camera settings. If shutter (1/50) is fixed then exposure is controlled by adjusting aperture and ISO? Aperture is unlikely to drop below 5.6, which seemed to mean cranking ISO way high in (eg) the bedroom shot near the end. Late afternoon light and the bedrm still seems pretty dim to me even though to my mind I'm only retaining a minimum of window detail. How high are you willing to push ISO?
I'm also realising the length of clip footage needed to leave enough for 2 bars of music after setting smooth in/out points.
