LEGO, over on LEGO Ideas, is currently running a "Separate and Integrate" activity - encouraging people to make a creation using Brick Separators.. (Activities are themed building challenges, just for fun, on the LEGO Ideas site)

I posted this. It's not a new MOC, some of you may have seen it already. It was in part inspired by another Melbourne builder, Gabe, who is an amazing talent, and his life size bird MOCs are one of the creations that inspired me to become a MOC builder myself.

It's received a very positive response, with people asking for to be put up as an official IDEAs submission. Which I hadn't even considered honestly, so thankyou to everyone who encouraged me.

It's now up, and available for voting, check it out here - and if you like it, please hit support

PS - While it is to early to talk about what would happen were it to become an offcial set, I'm an Australian, and last summer our country was devastated by bushfires. I was able to use my last Ideas submission, the Food Stand Diners to help support those affected, but more still needs to be done. It's my hope that this could be a way to do that, with part proceeds going to those who need it most as they rebuild their communities, and help rehabilitate wildlife in the affected areas.

That's my dream. Let's make it happen.

Today's challenge: build something that uses a brick separator, build it upside-down, and use less than 75 pieces. Here's my result - a T-Rex. What do you think?

Well now, there was one J.I. Case steam tractor to power the Belleville grain separator but here is a lengthy rack of diesel tractor power all lined up at Dougherty Museum on #287, south of Longmont. It includes a Case diesel tractor further down. The first two are Allis-Chalmers tractors and I can see there are some John Deeres and International Harvester Farmalls down the line. I had to go into overtime to pull the background field, sky and farm from the "California Burning" sky.

Although we toured the museum's inside some time ago in the heat of summer, I surely don't remember the host of tractors inside. This is a heck of a lineup of tractors and there are others scattered elsewhere.

A couple of Saturdays back Dougherty had their end of summer blow out. Boulder County Open Space maintains and opens the museum on summer Fridays and weekends. They moved a load of their antiques outside and into the daylight which was a grand improvement especially for those with cameras. The museum started when Ray Dougherty started to acquire old automobiles. He finally branched out to antique farm equipment and early home entertainment devices.

This was a dandy day and I am glad eDDie jumped me to get down there at 9:00 on the stroke of opening. I was toasted after a couple of hours. Summer t'ain't over. I must have been a little later than dead on time because folks were shuttling to park and around exhibits. My first trek was over to machinery I had yet to encounter this rig, a separator accordingly. From the size of it and I discovered later, it probably functioned better to separate farmers from their money than grain from the chaff. Well, later they cranked it up and tried it out! I bet it took some serious steam power to drive all these doodads.

Had tons of these brick separators on my desk. Initially i wanted to build cannons but ten ended up looking better as claws. The next thing you know O.R.C Unit is born :D

Finally got to use brick separators in a build! :D

Built for the LSB 10th anniversary. Missed the boat on racing bikes a couple of years back so with the anything goes category this time around I figured it was my chance!

The lowly brick separator is so mundane that LEGO has to give them away in most large sets!

Our local ski resort, Dodge Ridge, has gotten more snow this year than just about anybody can remember. And seeing that my wife and I love to ski, that's a good thing.

I took this shot at one of my favorite places in the world. It's from the top of the Separator cutoff. You can chose to head down "Separator" "Dynamite", Elevator Shaft, or my favorite "Powder Keg". Whoopee.

Sorry for the kinda weird looking photos. For some reason, I don't like to carry my dslr while I'm skiing. :-)

The adrenaline junkie Helco van Weisz skimmed the waves as he raced his island circuit. This is the first of three speeder bikes built for 2021 LSB contest, the Island Racing category. And of course I had to use a brick separator! I tried the new dark turquoise one, but ultimately the orange one popped better against the waves.

Taken a bit over two miles west of the Throckmorton County - Young County line on the north side of RT 380, here's an oil tank battery and separator, one oil tank being a "misfit", having been painted with deep-sea creatures. In a few days I'll drive back out there and see what the other side of the tank looks like. The work seems incomplete, with a lot more steel "canvas" being available. Some prep work looks like it needs to be done before any more paint work is started. The area is loaded with restricted access signs so the artist must have had permission from the oil company to decorate the tank. Driving west on 380 you might not notice it, but going east it's hard to miss.

Some wells can be dangerous, emitting hazardous levels of Hydrogen Sulfide gas. If H2S is present warning signs would be posted, possibly a wind sock to indicate wind direction, and the odor of rotten eggs would be VERY noticeable. I saw no warning signs here.

I built this set of vehicles for @lolugclub’s Iron Builder challenge, using the orange pumpkin as the seed piece. And of course I threw in the brick separators like I usually do!

PLEASE, no multi invitations, glitters or self promotion in your comments, THEY WILL BE DELETED. My photos are FREE for anyone to use, just give me credit and it would be nice if you let me know, thanks - NONE OF MY PICTURES ARE HDR.

After milking the cow the raw milk is separated using this machine from the early 1900s. It is filtered by the cloth and then gets separated into milk and cream.

A separator is a centrifugal device that separates milk into cream and skimmed milk. Separation was commonly performed on farms in the past. Most farmers milked a few cows, usually by hand, and separated milk. Some of the skimmed milk was consumed while the rest was used to feed calves and pigs. Enough cream was saved to make butter, and the excess was sold.

ad nauseum..... BUT wait! this version has edible "grass" separators! lol! I used to work in a take out sushi bar so I'm really accustomed to those things!

Yes, those are brick separators in the legs.

It looks as if one swift kick might bring this entire structure down. My best guess is that this equipment once separated particles from workshop air exhaust.
