Today's challenge: build something that uses a brick separator, build it upside-down, and use less than 75 pieces. Here's my result - a T-Rex. What do you think?

Had tons of these brick separators on my desk. Initially i wanted to build cannons but ten ended up looking better as claws. The next thing you know O.R.C Unit is born :D

The lowly brick separator is so mundane that LEGO has to give them away in most large sets!

Finally got to use brick separators in a build! :D

Built for the LSB 10th anniversary. Missed the boat on racing bikes a couple of years back so with the anything goes category this time around I figured it was my chance!

Taken a bit over two miles west of the Throckmorton County - Young County line on the north side of RT 380, here's an oil tank battery and separator, one oil tank being a "misfit", having been painted with deep-sea creatures. In a few days I'll drive back out there and see what the other side of the tank looks like. The work seems incomplete, with a lot more steel "canvas" being available. Some prep work looks like it needs to be done before any more paint work is started. The area is loaded with restricted access signs so the artist must have had permission from the oil company to decorate the tank. Driving west on 380 you might not notice it, but going east it's hard to miss.

Some wells can be dangerous, emitting hazardous levels of Hydrogen Sulfide gas. If H2S is present warning signs would be posted, possibly a wind sock to indicate wind direction, and the odor of rotten eggs would be VERY noticeable. I saw no warning signs here.

After milking the cow the raw milk is separated using this machine from the early 1900s. It is filtered by the cloth and then gets separated into milk and cream.

A separator is a centrifugal device that separates milk into cream and skimmed milk. Separation was commonly performed on farms in the past. Most farmers milked a few cows, usually by hand, and separated milk. Some of the skimmed milk was consumed while the rest was used to feed calves and pigs. Enough cream was saved to make butter, and the excess was sold.

I'm quite satisfied with how rounded the shaping of the chem storage stations ended up being!

ad nauseum..... BUT wait! this version has edible "grass" separators! lol! I used to work in a take out sushi bar so I'm really accustomed to those things!

I’ve been kinda obsessed with brick separators lately, so I wanted to make a superhero for Miniland with that theme in mind. We’re always careful about referencing actual superheroes from pop culture in Miniland so we don’t get in licensing trouble, but I was thinking we should just make up our own. His name refers to the fact that Bricklink classifies the brick separator as a “human tool,” but it also fits with superhero names like The Human Torch.

He uses the giant separators on his arms as weapons and shields, fighting crime and separating the guilty from the innocent. He also has one on his head as a helmet/mask, and some smaller ones on his back that are throwing separators, kinda like batarangs. I’m really happy with some of the dramatic action poses he can do.

I’ve had several people tell me he looks very anime inspired, like a character from My Hero Academia or Chainsaw Man, and that’s probably where I was subconsciously taking influence from.

because I have a bunion which causes my big toe to overlap the second toe...this device separates them...

LEGO 365: Jar Jar Having A Bad Year

Benny takes his new ship, 'The Sea Separator' down to explore an undiscovered alien water world. A planet of red flaming rocks, pink plants and green seas.

I've been working on this moc for about 3 weeks. It came together really quickly after I knocked the sea craft together on Christmas day. Although the colours on the ship aren't completely faithful, I knew from an early stage I wanted to adopt the Classic Space theme for it.

I did some drawer separators last night and it looks much better

Popped these off a (7?) year old moc's baseplate with a brick separator at the same time, and they shattered.

Cause some aliens need a really big gun to take down.

More importantly, I used no less than 6 brick separators in this ship.

I just wanted to do a really simple cake. I was looking at some 30's architecture and that gave me the idea of the ribbed box shape. As usual the cake is in fondant/sugarpaste and the lilies are in flower/gum paste, the lilies were taped into a small bouquet and inserted into a posy pin in the cake.

Extra photo on my website.

Here is another shot of the Belleville grain separator built in 1926 by Harrison Machine Works, Belleville, Illinois. (see Wikipedia) I shot this at the Dougherty Museum on #287, south of Longmont. Boy does it look like I could get dumped on if I stand over on the left! Boy this separator surely looks like a single farmer might be a bit over tasked to run it himself. From the looks, it appears to be more of a strawmaker. It's all belted up and nowhere to go.

A couple of Saturdays back Dougherty had their end of summer blow out. Boulder County Open Space maintains and opens the museum on summer Fridays and weekends. They moved a load of their antiques outside and into the daylight which was a grand improvement especially for those with cameras. The museum started when Ray Dougherty started to acquire old automobiles. He finally branched out to antique farm equipment and early home entertainment devices.

This was a dandy day and I am glad eDDie jumped me to get down there at 9:00 on the stroke of opening. I was toasted after a couple of hours. Summer t'ain't over. I must have been a little later than dead on time because folks were shuttling to park and around exhibits. My first trek was over to machinery I had yet to encounter this rig, a separator accordingly. From the size of it and I discovered later, it probably functioned better to separate farmers from their money than grain from the chaff. Well, later they cranked it up and tried it out! I bet it took some serious steam power to drive all these doodads.

The McIntosh-Lohr Farm Agricultural Museum on Highway #66, (not the same as Route #66) has no behemoth critters like this.

Don't mind the teal part separator, it's not like I'm trying to make this look like an actual LEGO product or anything...
