Acrylic on canvas. 11" x 14"

July 13, 2010.

Its funny sometimes how we separate things. This little chain is hardly an obstacle, but represents a separation between two pieces of property.

This shot also helped jar something loose in a private creative rut I have been feeling in my heart, but not my head (if that makes any sense?). All it took was to look at something upside-down.

The Stupid Little Angry Dogâ„¢ loses her grip... no.. I did not photoshop this in any way... there were several barn cats watching the action on the left of the screen, she was trying to keep one eye on the purple snake and one eye on the kitties...

The window tint on my 13 year old car is separating, but sometimes it looks sort of cool.

I often see people on Flickr apologizing for doing so many self portraits. Funny, there are some people I wish would do more. ;)

Differences should not lead to separation

We finished our evening today shopping for local handicrafts at a store near the separation wall in Bethlehem.

This is the Palestinian side of the wall. As you can see it is covered with graffiti. Many of the messages on the wall are pro-Palestine, anti-war, or about the heartbreak of separation from loved ones. Unfortunately, there are also some hateful, messages written as well.

The Israeli side has no graffiti on it. Anything painted on it, is painted over soon after.

The posters you see here were writen by local women affected by the separation wall. The poster here reads as follows:

" WALL MUSEUM

This is a series of posters with true stories written by Palestinian women. The stories of suffering and oppression as well as 'sumud' (steadfastness or resilience), inner strength and cultural identity are here to bring out the truth of Palestinian life, which this wall tries to hide and kill.

This project is made possible through sponsoring of individual posters.

You too can help expand this 'museum' by sponsporing a poster. For more information please contact the nearby Sumud Story House
