Magnificent Gyeonghoeru Pavilion was used for state banquets.
Twice a year Seoul’s historic Gyeongbokgung Palace is opened up to the public at night from 7pm to 10pm through its starry night program. The biannual event allows visitors to glimpse a different aspect of the grand palace than visitors usually get to see during the day, with the buildings lit up spectacularly by floodlights. The palace itself is one of Seoul’s most popular tourist attractions and is full of significant buildings, being the first Joseon palace to be built in 1395 by King Taejo. Highlights include Gyeonghoeru Pavilion set within a pond, and the glorious throne hall, Geunjeongjeon.
