So, two big things in one week. The first one was the Danish parliamentary election and the second one is the book that I've designed the front cover for, was published yesterday!

Since the book is a big thing for me personally, I've chosen to use it as my weekly selfportrait.

If any of you should have any interest in it (it's in Danish, though), it's named "Det sensitive Univers" by Pernille Nederland and published by Forlaget Ravnerock. It's about highly sensitive people and I think most people would benefit from more knowledge about the trait...

An indication of just how sensitive the government is to any public

scrutiny or question of current native forestry policy was evidenced by

the reaction of Forest NSW yesterday to the 350 gathering in the picnic

area of FNSW Regional office.

Far south coast people joined thousands of groups world when they took

part in the 350.org International Day of Climate Action. People from

Eurobodalla and Bega Valley shires met up at the Forests NSW regional

headquarters in Batemans Bay, and the woodchipmill at Eden, to highlight

the huge greenhouse gas emissions generated by native forest logging.

The gathering was part of an international day of action organized by the

grassroots campaign 350.org to urge world leaders to support a clear

solution to the climate crisis: reducing the level of carbon dioxide in

the atmosphere to at least 350 parts per million. Millions of people

across the globe joined the most widespread day of environmental action in

history, attending over 4,000 simultaneous events in more than 187

countries.

Campaigners gathered at FNSW to highlight the fact that deforestation is

the biggest cause of climate change and has a ready solution in the

transition to plantation.

The campaigners called on the government to immediately moratoria on

logging in all native forest areas until legislation is provided to

protect these community assets.

"The forests are being logged at an unsustainable rate," Mr Tony Whan,

spokesperson for South East Forest Rescue said. "The accumulated

degradation of the RFAs must be called into account."

Moruya resident, Lisa Stone said that the number 350 stands for 350 parts

per million - the limit on the concentration of carbon dioxide in the

atmosphere many believe is needed to avoid climate havoc.

“Our leaders must act urgently if we are to achieve that, and this action

must include an end to native forest woodchipping,” she said.

"Forests NSW office became a global message board when people formed the

number 350 from woodchips to send a climate change message to world

leaders," Bega Valley Greens Councillor, Keith Hughes, said.

"An end to the intensive logging of native forests is the easiest and most

effective way to start the transition to a sustainable climate future."

Councillor Hughes said that logging to supply the Eden chipmill releases

more CO2 into the atmosphere than a large coal fired power station. "The

development proposal must be rejected if we are the seriously tackle

climate change," he said.

The event was compelled to finish before 3:50pm due to the arrival of a

State Forest officer who ordered the people to remove their banner and

leave the 'forest'. He told them to 'hurry up' as they packed, gave them

five minutes to leave the area and, when questioned as to what compartment

number the forest was, rang the police. This was only three minutes after

the order.

Police attended the event and left after speaking to the FNSW unit manager

and the campaigners who explained the legalities of 'day use area', the

Forestry Regulations concerning removal of people and 'Move-on' powers

which state people have the right to peaceful protest. The campaigners

cooperated by moving off the premises.

“The attitude displayed by forestry authorities on the day – in calling

the police, demonstrates that leadership from our governments is sadly

lacking,” Ms. Stone said.

There were no arrests.

There are many ways to think of sensitive, and actually, many of them work for me. I take things to heart, and feel them deeply...for myself and (hopefully!) others.

Toni and I each took photos for our own words, and the others'. We didn't choose things together, but rather, each brought our own take on the word. The contrast between Toni's dark, rich pictures, and my bright whites really makes me smile.

As in all strong there is a weak side. (She's taking pics with her mobile phone.)

The 1N34A diode is seen here mounted on top of the clear poly cover.

It is normally used in the crystal circuit to convert the AC signal to a DC audio signal for the earphone.

However, this diode is light-sensitive to sunlight, candle-light, laser light, flashlights, and AC light bulbs. Each light source produces a different sound.

Sept 16, 2014: I made this widget ages ago and I only set it up occasionally but there are times when only this will do. Here I'm drilling a #53 hole in an odd location on a very oddly shaped part. The thing was cut out with a waterjet and I used the discarded parts to make custom jaws to hold it in the vise for further machining.

Are you worried and irritated due to the pain in your teeth when you eat and drink hot and cold foods and #beverages. It is mainly due to teeth sensitivity which can turn out to be quite painful dental condition if it is not taken care of on immediate basis.

Teeth #sensitivity troubles many Americans, and they do not know about the reasons for the sensitivity in their teeth. Therefore, we are going to discuss about the reasons of tooth sensitivity, things that you can do at home in order to prevent and get rid of this condition, the ways dentists treat this issue.

Can teeth whitening be the reason for sensitivity?

After getting the teeth whitened professionally or with the use of over-the-counter whitening product, you may experience sensitivity in your teeth. This sensitivity is pretty normal. The condition we are talking about mainly involves hypersensitivity of tooth’s dentin. Sensitivity caused by teeth whitening is due to the bleach which tends to penetrate into the teeth in order to carry out its function.

Reasons for the tooth sensitivity issue

Tooth sensitivity, also known as #Dentin #Hypersensitivity, is not uncommon. The major reasons for tooth sensitivity are mainly two, i.e. receding gums and erosion of teeth #enamel. Both these reasons lead to one condition, i.e. exposure of dentin. Dentin basically contains lot of #nerves. When you eat or drink hot and cold foods, these nerves get stimulated. As a result, the sharp pain arises.

There are a few factors which result in tooth sensitivity.

•Enamel #erosion due to teeth grinding

•Enamel erosion due to aggressive brushing

•Enamel erosion due to acid interaction

•Gum recession

How to take care of sensitive teeth at home

Although dental appointment should be your first priority if you are facing the issue of sensitive teeth, there are a few things that you can do at home to ensure proper care of your sensitive teeth.

•First you need to look at the #toothpaste you are using. If your toothpaste contains ingredients which can turn out to be harsh on your teeth and gums, replace your toothpaste with the one made specifically for sensitive teeth. Typically, the toothpaste with potassium nitrate can help you in this regard because this ingredient is known to cover the tiny pores which allow transportation of other ingredients to let the sensitivity occur.

•After changing your toothpaste, you should change your toothbrush as well. Make sure that the toothbrush you are getting has soft bristles. At the same time, make sure that you are not continuing with your vigorous brushing habits.

•Protect your tooth enamel by avoiding acidic foods. Foods like soda, pop, wine and other acidic foods can put your teeth at the risk of consistent acidic attack. The first victim in this regard is going to be the tooth enamel.

•If you have the habit of grinding your teeth at night, consider using a #nightguard. That will help the chewing surfaces of your teeth to have a nice cushion.

Apart from these at-home treatments, you should also look to get an appointment with your dentist.

In our everyday use of energy-intensive things, we don’t often stop to reflect on the acts and choices we make through our interaction with these things. For instance in purchasing a lamp, we might spend a considerable time considering lampshade designs but the choice of a light bulb is rarely reflected upon. In the ‘Heat-Sensitive Lamp’ example, the lamp takes its shape as the lamp is turned on for the first time, its material composition determined by the heat of light bulb. This example highlights electricity as an essential material in the design of a lamp – in fact, energy itself participates in the design of the aesthetic form of the object. The lamps were created by Front in collaboration with the Interactive Institute

IRON CHIC - "Sensitive Dependence"

a little blood in the water but that's all it too

a talking snake in the garden now all hell's breaking loose

if you could open your eyes you'd fucking see for yourself

the simple truth of it is we let them take our future

and fuck it to death

we are aware of what they are saying, no one cares if it's true

the light at the end of the tunnel is a rope that ends in a noose

we could put an end to the lies that we've been telling ourselves

just know that we're part of it now

if we don't keep moving we'll be eaten alive

are we strong enough to take a long hard look right at the guts?

roll our shirt sleeves up and get to the heart of what's hurting us

put a price on life and we're buying it

but the cost is high and who's paying for that?

maybe we can get rich off them

maybe it's just a means to an end

like trying to breathe underwater it hurts and it don't work

ache for the sake of a dollar and all that it's worth

would you just roll your eyes and put an end to yourself

if you found truth of it was that we're as much to blame as anyone else?
