A number of waterbirds have odd shaped bills.The bills of the ibis and the curlew are long and downcurved, while that of the avocet is curved upwards.One of the oddest is that of the spoonbill.It’s the shape of the bill that has given the bird its name.This bill is widened at the tip, and is actually more spatula-shaped than spoon-shaped, because its tip is not dished.The birds feed with their sensitive bills open a few centimetres. They sweep them from side to side through shallow water in search of small aquatic creatures such as water beetles and small yabbies.The inside of the “spoon” is equipped with “vibration detectors”.
This special feature enables the birds to feel for their food rather than look for it.
A semi-aquatic mammal native to south and southeast Asia. These otters have sensitive and dexterous front paws which help them locate their prey when they dig around in the mud. Their diet consist primary of crabs, molluscs, frogs and crustaceans.

Vietnamese Pot-bellied pig.
Appearance and lifespan
Pot-bellied Pigs are a breed of the domestic pig and most likely descended from a Chinese ancestral species. The Pot-bellied Pig is named so for its round sagging abdomen, which usually drags close to the ground. They have black skin covered with sparse hair, making them very sensitive to the sun. Their skin hangs very loosely from their body which gives the impression of wrinkles. These pigs have a straight tail that sits high up on their rear. If the tail is curled it is an indication of cross breeding. Pot-bellied Pigs usually weigh 32 to 68 kg (70 to 150 lbs) and live for approximately 10 to 20 years or up to 30 years in captivity.

Philippsruhe Castle / Schloss Philippsruhe, Hanau, Hesse, Germany
While standing in front of the castle I was fascinated by the fabulous light effect on the pavement just beneath this old street lantern of Philippsruhe Castle.
"The impressive baroque palace was built in 1725 in Hanau Kesselstadt on behalf of the Hanau Count Philipp Reinhard. Its present appearance can be traced back to conversions during the founding time. The premises now house the Historical Museum. The surrounding landscape park was originally designed as a baroque garden, but was renovated in the English style in the 19th century. The popular Brothers Grimm Festival takes place every year at the edge of the park in a newly designed amphitheatre. A highlight of the castle is the so called white hall. In the first years of the 18th century these rooms were used to house the cold-sensitive orange and lemon trees. Today the white hall offers sufficient space to host an opulent banquet at major celebrations such as weddings, birthdays or anniversaries, to function as a ballroom or to provide a dignified setting for meetings."
Tofu is truly a sensitive soul. There are a lot of things he is afraid of, like the vet, the vacuum cleaner, the garbage truck, the doorbell, the neighbour's dogs, people he doesn't know, etc. Whenever something worries him he hides either behind me or behind Cleo and if that isn't possibe he disappears behind the sofa. On the other hand he is a very kind, sweet, charming and peaceful cat. He is the only cat I have ever had who can sit under a birdfeeder for hours while birds come and go and no bird will get harmed because he just wants to watch them.
