Where I work, people send in used electronics to be refurbished or recycled. When we found this Sony Walkman in the recycle pile, we HAD to play with it. Hooked it up to some extra computer speakers and Ron brought in his amazing old tape collection, and we've been jammin to MC Hammer, Bobby Brown, Toni Braxton, Warren G, and Michael Jackson the last several days. Best place to work, ever.

For her talk, Davachi discussed the underlying principles of psychoacoustics. This extended to explore the way that psychoacoustic manipulations, gradual textural development, exploitation of resonant spaces, and temporal extension of simple harmonic structures can combine to construct a dwelling space – both phenomenological and physical. This will relate to her personal practice and more broadly in the context of experimental and electronic music throughout the 1960s and 70s, a unique time in which notions of alternate psychosomatic environments rose to prominence.

There were around five demonstrations as we walked down Istiklal. Some of them seemed to be political. others were supporting local sports teams. This is one of them; I have no idea what their cause is.

Artist talk by Donna Legault (ON) presented in partnership with aceartinc.
Donna Legault is an artist working in the field of sound art, electronic installation, sculpture, and performance. The intersection of these practices focus on the resonance of sound as a dynamic extension of everyday actions. Her interest in the perception of sound draws participants’ attention towards the relational qualities of “noise” as a material and temporal presence. Donna has a degree in Art History from Carleton University, and in Visual Arts from Ottawa University.
