for me again monday theme - new

i had so many ideas for this weeks theme..but just couldn't make them come to fruition, mostly because my son was home with me today.. he normally goes to school on mondays, but we had to change his days to coordinate with my work days.. anyway... will have to try my other "new" themed ideas sometime during the 366..

so this type of photo is not new for me.. it's pretty much signature my style.. but what is new is the attitude that anything goes..to not get so wrapped up in having things go exactly my way...to not be so self critical, to GO WITH THE FLOW.. 'cause when you do..magic just may happen

hmam!

again thank you dear friends for the kind comments

I was standing in the shadows

Of a life I didn’t own

Every mirror told a story

Of a heart turned into stone

I kept chasing your reflection

In the corners of my mind

But every step I took with you

Just left myself behind

Pre-Chorus

I was dancing on a wire

Just to keep you satisfied

Every tear I ever swallowed

Was a war I had to hide

I was fading like a whisper

In a storm I couldn’t fight

Till I heard a voice inside me

Saying, “You deserve the light”

Chorus

Every broken piece

Is calling out my name

Every silent scream

Is rising from the pain

I can feel the fire

Burning through the shame

Tonight I won’t be the same

I choose me

Through the fire, through the fall

Through the ache inside my bones

Even if I stand alone

In a world I don’t know

I was lost in your gravity

Trying to save what couldn’t be

But I’m breaking every chain

Setting my heart free

I choose me

Verse 2

I remember all the nights

I tried to rewrite who I was

Every “sorry” that I whispered

Just to earn a little love

I was bending every boundary

Breaking every rule

Trying to fit inside a picture

Where I only felt a fool

Now I’m walking through the wreckage

Of the girl I used to be

Every scar is like a roadmap

Leading me back to me

And the silence feels like music

And the pain has turned to gold

Every shattered piece is stronger

Than the lies I used to hold

Pre-Chorus

I can hear my heartbeat louder

Than it ever was before

Like a drum breaking open

Every locked and rusted door

I don’t need your love anymore

Just to feel secure

After all the damage done

I finally found my cure

Chorus

I choose me

Through the fire, through the fall

Through the ache inside my bones

Even if I stand alone

In a world I don’t know

I was lost in your gravity

Drowning underneath the sea

But I’m breaking every chain

Setting my heart free

I choose me

Bridge

And I won’t apologize

For the tears I cried

They were rivers washing truth

Back into my eyes

And I won’t be afraid

Of the war inside

’Cause it made me who I am

Tonight

Every echo of your voice

Is fading out

Every piece of fear

Is turning into doubt

And I’m rising from the ashes

Of the past

I am finally free

At last

Final Chorus

I choose me

Through the fire, through the fall

Through the end of everything

Hear my spirit sing

I was buried in your gravity

Lost underneath

Now I’m standing in the light

Finally I can breathe

So let the world keep turning

Let the past fade away

I am stronger in the silence

Of the words I couldn’t say

And I’ll wear every lesson

Like a crown upon my head

I am everything I needed

I choose me instead

Outro

I choose me instead

I choose me

I choose me instead

Part 1 of my Self-love series: Forgiveness.

For my fellow Christians out there: did you know that the Bible talks a lot about forgiveness of other people but actually doesn’t speak a lot on SELF forgiveness. Yet it’s one of the most important forms of forgiveness. However there is a great verse in Philippians 3 that says something like “forgive the past and move on” (of course a very rough translation into my own words but that’s the feeling I would like to imagine it to have.)

For my other peeps who are struggling with self forgiveness it’s definitely not an easy task. I think one of my own faults is rationalizing or justifying bad things I’ve done in the past. Instead of owning up to the bad things I’ve done sometimes I just bury it hoping that somehow it will just go away. But that’s not love... that’s denial. Part of loving yourself is doing the hardest things you wouldn’t do for anyone else. And yes forgiveness is one of those. But also asking for forgiveness is one of the hardest things to do. Asking yourself for forgiveness is an even more difficult task. One of the greatest forms of self love is taking responsibility for the things you do, fixing the bad things and then moving on. Part of the reasons why I suffer so hard with depression is I bury and run away from problems I should face head on and as I grow in my art and just in life in general I’ve realized one of the best ways to find peace and love within yourself is to face these problems and then forgive yourself. Not just saying “shit happens” and rolling along but learning from the bad you’ve done and truly realizing that “wow, I did a bad thing but that doesn’t make me a bad person.” I live with shame/guilt everyday and I’m sure everyone does too, but let’s maybe put that shame and guilt aside for one minute and realize that we are not bad people but just people who have done bad things. Let’s forgive ourselves today and let’s live happy, peace-filled lives. Hm? Too much? Haha ok do what ya want. 😘

I have been creating more collages, but more as "visual texts" (poems) recently, and I've showcased one of them above from this freshly-made set.

When I was young someone told me that moles are where the badness from inside us breaks through. It was meant as a joke but I somehow took it for granted. And looking in the mirror seeing the crazy amount of moles covering my body I started to wonder how big that badness inside me must be.

Later every now and then someone asked me why i wouldn't get some of the birthmarks removed which ended up in me starting to think my skin was ugly.

It took me for ever to make peace with these 'flaws' and even longer to start to like them.

Only now I manage to see how they are the stars of my body that make me who i am.

This is only the tiniest example of how flaws are often what make us unique. 🌟

Be Your Own Beloved Selfies - Day 14 - Crushing on some Valentine's self-love. This photo was actually taken a couple days after Valentine's Day. That day, I saw & discovered so many wonderful "serendipitous signs of love": a gorgeous double-rainbow, natural hearts everywhere, sidewalk messages, etc .... however, I accidentally forgot to put the battery back in my camera. Thus, I belatedly made this lovely self-love (body-love) poster. It makes my heart sing just as much as those serendipitous discoveries.

"To love and be loved is to feel the sun from both sides. Appreciation is the language of the heart, a gentle whisper that says, ‘You matter.’" ☀️💛

Wearing "The Shellshock Collection" by @dominella Owner of SL Brand @shopdomelle- this collection is the epitome of oceanic luxury with an edge—where pearls meet gilded seashells in a dance of elegance. 🐚💛

Anyone who knows me knows my love for pearls runs deep. They embody grace, wisdom, and the timeless beauty of nature—a treasure born from the sea. So, of course, I couldn’t resist adding this collection to my own.

My fat from the side: Or how I am constantly realizing just how big my big butt is

Kyla took this (entirely candid) picture of me while I was getting ready for a (not at all candid) photoshoot to create publicity materials for the documentary last Saturday. She took a lot of behind-the-scenes shots that day, but this one is probably my favorite.

When I'm getting ready for the day, doing my hair and makeup while leaning precariously over my powder-and-blush-stained counter-tops, the last thing I'm thinking about is my butt. I am very rarely thinking about my body at all, so much as I am thinking about an animated, two-dimensional portrait of myself that begins at the top of my head and ends at my bust. This version of me is still fat, but not nearly as fat as the person I see when I look at this picture that Kyla took. The thing is, I very rarely "feel" as fat as I look. I think this is a pretty normal occurrence for fat folks... I've spent so many years in my head, shying away from full physical embodiment, that I sometimes forget that my body is more than a face and some boobs--especially when I'm just going through my morning hair and makeup routine.

When I finish, I take a few looks in one or both of my two full-length mirrors. I do some twirling, check out my backside, and even do some side-viewing. But it's not the same as looking at this picture--this static representation of a side of me that I rarely see, and one that I am only recently comfortable with.

But something awesome happened when Kyla showed me this picture: I was in awe. Not because I was surprised to see what I saw--I DO know how big my butt is, and how far my stomach and breasts stick out, regardless of how often I might "forget" it. I was in awe because when I saw myself I experienced this deep sense of pride, this voice inside me that was like "fuck YEAH that is you! That is your body. That is your home." And it felt so good. I'm still beaming, just looking at this picture now, and feeling that wonderful feeling when you realize that your body is YOU and you are your body and everything is just... good. This is me; I'm a good body.

"Ethereal Intimacy" is a stunning monochrome boudoir photograph, masterfully captured on a Fujifilm GFX 100, that celebrates the allure and power of the female form. This piece skillfully employs the use of shadows and soft lighting to accentuate the sensuality of the gorgeous, well-endowed model.

The intimate atmosphere and strategic angles within the composition create a captivating interplay of light and shadow, hinting at the model's sexiness while maintaining an air of elegance and sophistication. This mesmerizing photograph showcases not only the model's beauty but also the photographer's ability to convey the delicate balance between sensuality and grace.

"Ethereal Intimacy" is a testament to the art of boudoir photography, making it a compelling addition to any gallery that appreciates the celebration of the female form and the exploration of intimacy through visual storytelling.

The past few inspiration/experience posts I've made have been in video form, but no worries! I will be doing more posts like this exclusively for Flickr in the future, it just takes me much longer to write down everything I want to say and set up a photo for it :)

~When I am among the trees, especially the willows and the honey locust, equally the beech, the oaks and the pines, they give off such hints of gladness. I would almost say that they save me and daily

Around me the trees stir in their leaves and call out, "Stay awhile."

The light flows from their branches~ Mary Oliver.

This year I have regained my love for reading especially poetry. My garden is just beyond these trees and headstones as is my grandmother's ashes. She passed before I was born but I have to say I feel so deeply connected to her almost like I know who she is, like we lived and walked this patch of grass together, hand in hand. Dad tells me I'm very similar to my gran...We both had a love for trees, reading, sewing and our favourite tipple....Dutch Advocate ;-) For now though I shall be amongst the trees <3 Miss you Gran. Go where your heart is adored.Don't settle for less.

I haven't posted for a couple of days as I've been busy working. Today I've been sat with my clothes all over the floor deciding what to pack in my small backpack as I go to Amsterdam on Friday until the following Wednesday so I won't be posting for almost a whole week as my laptop won't be coming with me! But hopefully I should have lots of awesome stuff to post when I'm back so stay with me! I'm so excited. This break is what I need. If there's any photographers in Amsterdam or near Amsterdam feel free give me a shout! :D

“I have known friendship love, parental love, romantic love, family love and unrequited love in my life time but the only love that made a difference was self love. You don't need confirmation from the world or another person that you matter. You simply do matter. When you finally believe that truth and live it then you can do amazing things with your life!”

The Green /// When I look inside; deep into the green of my lover's eyes, I can't seem to grasp the highest temples of her mind. The sacred land still lays ahead with endless paths, hills and caves… waiting to be discovered.

...Grown to breed, grown too fast, grown to live the entire path. It is thorny and unsure, unwise and sometimes blue. But remember that we are too, are only trying to come true.

Today, as we gather for The Blooming Table: A Circle of Twelve, we come together to nourish not just our bodies, but our spirits. ♀️💛 The table is set with love, and the delights and treats are just the beginning of what’s to come. Each of you is in for a beautiful surprise upon arrival—a special gift and a moment of connection that will linger long after the evening is over.

This is also the final event of our Self Love 2025 series, and as a token of gratitude for your presence and energy, I’m thrilled to offer a free night stay at the Zen Sanctuary. Take time to unwind, reflect, and enjoy the peace of the space after the event ends.

Let the conversations flow, the connections bloom, and the moments of joy unfold as we celebrate growth, kindness, and the beauty of new beginnings together. 🌿✨

Looking forward to seeing you all at the table today! 💫🌸
