Knight of Jewels is IC Catholic Prep’s (ICCP) premier fundraising event. This event provides over $250,000 in funding for our students and their education each year. Knight of Jewels began nearly 50 years ago when parents and school supporters joined together to ensure that IC remained a pillar of spiritual and educational enlightenment in and around the Elmhurst community. Join us in this tradition of philanthropy.

ICCP is a dynamic college preparatory, Catholic, learning community that develops the whole person and inspires critical thinking. We celebrate the Catholic tradition of community and service while preparing our students to lead confidently and selflessly throughout life.

Veterans Day, historically known as Armistice Day and officially recognized as a U.S. federal holiday beginning in 1938, celebrates the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month and signaling the official end of World War I in 1918.

In 1954, President Dwight D. Eisenhower officially changed the name of the holiday from Armistice Day to Veterans Day.

A lazy day, little to do, idley seeking inspiration, playing with ideas that sort of grew into the "Selfless Selfie!

Where, when and whatever you are at but NOT yourself! Never Ever!!

A life of devotion, love, attention, selflessness, kirti, service and sacrifice.

Some are retired, some are young, some are hurting and some are stung.

They step inside away from the world into the place like the heavens above.

Black, White, Brown and different,

All sitting together in a line,

not a care of who is of what kind.

But kindest of kind is what we aim to become,

easier said, rather than done.

Done is what needs to happen,

Karma of a Kind kind is the the thing to do,

Are you listening to this?

WAKE UP Lazy mind, you think you know everything but you haven't got a clue!

Listen to me I will tell you the way,

Watch me and you will not go astray. It's Simple...

Serve Serve Serve

Meditate Meditate Meditiate

Keep your mind together, Keep your bird of your mind in Synchronisation

two wings fly together, one in Service and one in Meditation

My selfless quest continues! Granada is one of the last bastions of free tapas and, apparently, has over 500 bars - possibly urban legend, but I'll accept that figure for now! Herewith continues my attempt to visit and photograph every single bar & cafe.

My latest leg of the quest took me here.

I challenge you to be selfless. Select an individual who's inspirational, a creator, and with ambition that'll pat the stars on their back. No ceilings.

Cameron Pickett I respect your talent brother.

On this Easter Sunday, when we commemorate the selfless sacrifice made by Jesus Christ, my heart goes out to the families of Chris Hondros and Tim Hetherington, two “conflict photographers” for The New York Times who gave their lives last Wednesday - not because of a sworn duty to their country - but in passionate pursuit of their craft. It has been said that courage is not the absence of fear, but the recognition of something more important. My head is humbly bowed.

2010 Selfless Senior, Keith Lucero, has been a community volunteer throughout his four years of high school. He has helped build churches and feed the hungry in Mexico, re-wired a home in Rio Rancho that had been vandalized during construction, cleaned and repaired the garden and garage of a clinic for drug abusers, served meals to the elderly and served as a youth leader at his church. He’s the type of guy who will do anything for friends – from babysitting their kids to painting their house. When a concussion during the first game of football season sidelined Keith, he served as team manager and honorary captain. He showed up at all practices, fundraisers and games, serving as a role model for his peers and an example of quality character and conviction to his coaches.

A Selfless Senior is a student who gives back to his community, who hasn’t been recognized by his high school, who has made a positive impact on others facing difficulties and whose character sets him apart.

Durbanite Jessica Foord became a heroine to many South Africans when she showed courage and selflessness by establishing The Jes Foord Foundation (JFF), following her traumatic rape by four men in 2008. One of her initiatives is the Handbag Project. New or used handbags are donated, containing items that can assist a rape victim during the initial reporting process at the police station. These are things such as a facecloth, soap, deodorant spray, new underwear, etc. Typically, any item of clothing with forensic evidence on it must be taken from the rape victim, at a time she already feels so vulnerable. She then must undergo physical examination before being allowed to shower. A handbag with "comfort‟ items in it can go a long way in helping the victim feel a little better.

Humanitarian efforts take on many shapes and forms. They result in miracles - performed by selflessly dedicated individuals concerned with the promotion of human welfare and social reform. Haiti needs these individuals, their miracles, and their honorable work and continued support more than ever. Our "Humanitarian" poster for the Haiti Poster Project pays homage to the citizens of the world who put their lives at risk and on hold to help - not just Haiti and its citizens, but the all of the at risk peoples of the globe.

Haiti is in dire need of change on countless levels, many of which were only made more apparent through the nations recent tragedy. Resource management has plagued Haiti since its independence. Haiti is a particularly natural resource poor member of the global community. A great many of its peoples struggles arise from resource scarcity. Through typographic design we chose to envision a Haiti renewed, resource rich, lush and green and in full flower. We can only hope that one day Haiti can return to such a glorious state.

The typography included was designed atop an isometric triangular grid while the flowers and birds were designed on their own grid-based systems. C13 HEX, our most recently designed typeface was a byproduct of the Haiti type design process. At cypher13 we believe doing good manifests the same. In this manner we set out to design a poster to help raise funds for Haiti. We were rewarded with a beautiful experience, a poster we're proud of, a new typeface, and an opportunity to provide others with future opportunities.

The Humanitarian poster was printed in Boulder, Colorado by Ray McDermott at Good Thoughts 4 All, an earth conscious print studio committed to sustainable practices. In all, forty, seven-color posters were printed using earth-friendly inks on 80lb recycled paper. The posters are twenty four inches wide by sixteen inches tall.
