This week's theme was: C is for Cheerful

The weather was a bit dismal but driving to a local beauty spot made me feel much more cheerful after being restricted to staying within walking distance from home for so long.

I chose this selfie because I thought my eyes looked big and sharp. I also like how my hair takes up most of the framing, and how the red flannel goes with my brown eyes and "multicolored" hair.

I had MRSA on my wrist and needed a skin graft. It sucked.

Life has been way too busy over the past few months and the madness continues. Last month I went to France and Italy with the wife. Left the toys at home and just bagged my P&S. Mostly consist of travel snaps for memories, but was able to sneak in and get in my zone here and there. I have yet to even go through any photos so will be working my way through slowly and posting when I get a chance.

I also decided to give a little walk through of whatevers shot I post, sort of a look back and insight of why I press the shutter. Since when I decide to take a street photo was unpredictable I left the camera in either P mode of TV at least a SS of 1/200 or 1/400 with Auto ISO for most of the shots taken. As mentioned the majority of the shots taken on this trip were just travel snapshots, but I gave myself up to 12 shutter clicks for street shooting daily. I believe some days I didn't even attempt much at all. I don't expect much keepers, but will post some attempts regardless. I also must say that there were at least a dozen moments that I captured with my eyes and wished I had my camera ready or could take a short moment to bust it out, but unfortunately I had to just walk on by.

Japanese women, young and old, in kimonos have been a wonderful surprise. I thought that the traditional dress was now part of the tradition and rarely worn, however it continues to be a transgenerational dress and on feast days, to go to the temple, is normally wore. I adore all of these women, with white socks and sandals, scarves and handbags, colors and patterns oddly juxtaposed. I have to photograph them, especially when tradition meets modernity, with a smartphone supported by selfie stick.
